Hot as Hades here!

   It's like 100 degrees again. This is getting ridiculous. NO real rain since.....when?  I don't remember. The grass is crunching under-foot. The chickens are panting. I filled up 4 water troughs for the cows and my horse. The pond is getting really low. The wind is blowing a hot breeze. And the air is actually DRY. No humidity. I'm used to 100% humidity.
   
   Gnats are invading inside the house. Spiders are coming in. Haven't seen a snake in over 3 weeks. Cow patties hard as a rock.  Man, this is HOT. At least with the humidity there was some water vapor in the air!
   
   Supposed to have chance of storms middle of next week. Even says the high temp on Wed. will be 85. What a relief.  We need it.  Can't cut hay, no rain to make it grow. Something needs to happen soon, or we are in for a disaster.

      It is looking like we are in for a repeat of last summer, if not even a hotter one! it is extremely dry here and hot as well.
      Lol, a week and a half ago, I had finished painting the living room ceiling and the trim. I went into the kitchen for get a bite to eat. When I came back into the living room and started to place the furniture back in place...something got my attention in one of the windows.
      
      I walked over for a closer look.....A huge black snake had somehow climbed up the metal siding and was clinging with his body to the window!!!!  Guess he also was hot and was "feeling" the cool air from the window!
      
      I used the water hose to finally get him to leave the window, but it took a while. I thought he was going to stay on that window. lol

      Geez! Where do you live?!
      Here in South Florida it's been very dry as well. There are wild fires in the Everglades and the panthers, deer, and alligators are starting to take over the roads. We got a bit of rain today, but not enough to restore the water level in the Everglades and the canals.
      I've been doing the rain dance for weeks. Care to join me?

      Very dry also here in central MS. Do a google search for U.S. drought monitor. Their color-coded map shows which parts of the country are the driest. We're in yellow here and I can't imagine what darker ones are like as bad as it's been here. Only a couple of significant rainfalls since the tornadoes on April 27th.

      You are quite lucky in England the weather only mid to high 60's. We are still having April showers here, the seasons are so out of order. Still roll on the autumn we might get above 70 degrees then.

   Finally got some rain here in southeastern Georgia.  Almost 3 inches in the last few days.  The Okefenokee swamp has been burning and when the wind comes from the east it looks like the world is om fire.  I'm glad it has cooled down to the upper 90's for a change.

      Ha!  There are two small towns near here which share a city limits border.  Adel and Sparks are their names.  "Adel is so close to hell you can see Sparks" is a popular local joke

   never thought I'd say this but I've been riding in the truck with my husband who runs the AC full blast cause he cant stand the heat, I wear my sweater.  I actually was relieved to park for a bit and get out of the truck to warm up. lol
   
   Were in South Louisiana right now headed for Laredo, Tx. He did nothing but complain about the heat.  I guess I'm getting old, I can stand the heat better than I did a few years ago.. lol

      Well its done nothing but rain in Hertfordshire since I got back from Greece on Thursday night and it's cold!  The weather even threw in some thunder and lightening yesterday.

      I'll be here in SW Arkansas for 5 months.
      
      The past 2 weeks the heat has hit 100 (feels like 110) on a couple days and in the hi 90's the rest. Today it's 94!
      
      I want to get out and do some fishin' but can't! I tried it and burned up out there!
      
      Today i'm stuck inside with the air on full blast...arghhhh!

         Hey Qwark, neighbor...well, we're under the same radar belt. May have some thunder boomers pass over us on Tues & Wed I hope, but with it may come hail or tornados. ONly in the south!

   You guys gotta be funnin' us.  From the desert in SW Idaho - the furnace came on briefly two nights ago when it got down to 42 degrees at night.
   
   Supposed to warm up this week, though - all the way to mid 80's!  Pretty odd spring here - it should be pushing mid 90's pretty steady by now, but we just haven't seen it at all.

         No thank you!  I'm basically running neither furnace nor AC and I like it that way.  Not only is it quite pleasant outside but my pocketbook smiles for a change.

   I am in Florida, hot as hell. I do not go out except for mornings before 11:AM, and in the evenings after 6PM. It has been very nice at night though.I enjoy being out in the nite with my lil fire and radio, and critters everywhere.
   
   But to hell with 12PM to 6PM.

      I lived in FT Laud. for 45 yrs!
      
      Temp hardly ever exceeded 90 but the humidity was always 100%!
      
      I was a beach nut (bum) tho and spent every moment I wasn't workin' chasin' chics, diving or surfing.
      
      Best surfin' was just b4 a hurricane would hit. Man there was a group of us who rode waves bodysurfing until the last minute. Those were great days!
      
      Heat never bothered me then. I can't take it now.
      
      Gittin' old is hell!   arghhh :

            The first longboard I ever owned I built in S Calif.
            Used to surf it at Newport and Balboa...I am an old fart!
            Used to put one fin on and go outside off Alligator Point in La Jolla CA...catch the big ones and before bangin' into the cliffs, tuck, dive under the break and head back out...
            The oceans been my life!

                  ...yep, but not the 10-11 ft 30 lb boards I use to make.
                  My son owns a surf and skate shop in Tampa. Fla. The boards are all styrofoam and some so short I'd almost call em "boogey" boards but they'er not.
                  I'm sure we both have lotsa good memories.  :

                     Yep, I used to freak out when one of the old long boards would nose under the water and suddenly shoot up spinning into the air.  You learned fairly quickly to dive to the bottom and cover your head. 
                     
                     I tried to get used to the short boards but like you said, it reminded me of a boogey board too!

       That's hotter than Tampa Bay, I think our high so far has been mid 90's. Right now it's 89F.
       
       My sister lives near Austin. She said it's terrible there, drought conditions. She even said she was hoping for a tropical storm just for the rain!

             We had rain last week, but it wasn't a major thunder storm like we get in mid/late summer. It was enough to help water the lawn and flowers.

                Yeah, we've been getting very stormy skies, looks like it's going to rain hard, then it rains for 10 minutes and it stops. Canals are still really low, and if you go to the Everglades now you'll see panthers and deer crossing the roads. They're running away from the fires. My rain dance is not effective. I can't understand why!

    It has been near the century mark in Houston for waaaaaaaaay too long a time, breaking some long held records.  So dry...am sure we could also fry eggs on the sidewalk.  Wildfires have claimed 35 houses not far from Houston and those fires are still raging.  A chance of rain Tues. and best chance for Wed.  We need it BADLY!  Water restrictions are not yet mandatory...but it won't be long and fireworks are out of the question for personal use for the 4th of July (thank heavens!).
    A truck that pulled off the road with a hot wheel bearing sparked one of the raging wildfires.  Electrical lines are actually being sprayed with water (saw that on the news a day or so ago) to keep those lines working.  It is BAD in Texas!

    Sometimes, the predictability of the weather here in Scotland at least allows plans to be made. In winter, the cold, howling wind lashes snow across the land. In summer, the slightly less cold, howling wind lashes rain across the land.
    
    To be honest, I prefer winter, as the snow doesn't make the same, distracting noise that the rain is making as I type this message...

    The constant wind blowing has literally blown away the top cover of powdery dust at my place. It's hard as concrete walking on it.  Wind has been going strong today, probably from the line that may be headed this way. It's coming from Dallas headed east. Hope it rakes over us, we really need some relief.
