Early in my diving yrs, it was common for me to dive to 60 ft to gather abalone and scallops of the coast of S Calif.

A good working dive is about 2 minutes.

I made a 100 ft free dive off Bimini in the Bahamas.
The challenge I and a diving friend made, was to free dive to the bottom in 100 ft of water and bring back a handful of sand.

It took me 4 tries to do it.

Oh my gosh Qwark that is amazing!  How cool are you?  I'm thinking waaaaaaaaayyyyyy cool.smile

I jumped off a small rock cliff one time, like maybe 10ft up.  Even at that height I was too scared to dive in.  But it was pretty comical.  I'm a big girl, so my big butt made quite a splash!lol

        Hahahaha...Intimat, that is funny!! lol
I started out as a commercial abalone diver in S Calif.
I was too poor to by a "lung."
I fell in love with "free diving."
I taught it to my son in the Keys in Fla.
He turned out to be a free and lung diver.
I quit a few years ago when I retired. Took up fishin' lol
Git in the lakes and ocean and try it with some real live fish. It's a beautiful world and fun.

Isn't the water beautiful down there?
30 ft is a good dive.
Most reef fish are in a range from surface to about 70-80 ft.
I loved the big "jewfish"...200+ lbs in some of the coral caves.
I dove the Dominican Republic waters, Costa rica and all of the Bahamas.  smile:

Hey Qwark, I think the most I've gone is about 50ft. But, then again, it isn't something I would attempt at this age, however, at that time, I was much healthier. lol
