Hello, I'm a brand-new Hubber, and I just published my first Hub.  I would appreciate any feedback.  Thank you!

Good work overall, Kayana. You seem to have a good grasp of proper grammar and you keep you sentences short (these are things I look for after spending a decade as a newspaper reporter/editor!). One big suggestion is adding an Amazon.com widget to your Hubs. Eventually you should consider joining their affiliate program and perhaps even one day earning some money from your Hubs. Good luck with everything.

        Hey Da,

You might reconsider suggesting Amazon to other people, due to the laws of some states in America. Amazon has been eliminating affiliates in states that are using loopholes in Federal law, to attack individual affiliates over sales taxes.

So you're saying they could be arrested? Bah.

da_trif, thank you for your feedback!  Since I'm new, I was a little hazy on the Amazon aspect.  Can you put an Amazon capsule on your Hub without joining their affiliate program?  Also, you said "widget," is that different than a capsule?  Thanks!

First, sign up for Amazon's affiliate program through HP, if you don't already have an Amazon affiliate account, but only if you are in a state that hasn't passed tax legislation that will cause Amazon to disallow or terminate your affiliate account with them...there's plenty of info about this all over the Web. You can start by searching "amazon tax california".

Yes, widget is different from capsule. Although Amazon and other Internet businesses offer widgets to bloggers, you can't use them here on HP. If you want to sell products on Amazon, then you need an Amazon affiliate account and you need to use the HubPages Amazon capsule.

I have no idea what may happen if you try to use the HP Amazon capsule without having an Amazon affiliate account. I've never tried that.

I enjoyed your Hub immensely (left you a comment). It's clear that you are an accomplished writer.

The only suggestion I'd offer is that, since your Hub is a bit dense with text, perhaps you could add another appropriate photo or two, and maybe a video, to add interest and information.

Welcome to HP, and keep writing! I'm off to "follow" you now. smile

Sally, thank you for your suggestions.  I think as I get more confident in using the capsules I'll try to add more, and break up the text, like you said.  smile

    Welcome to HubPages! big_smile

I enjoyed reading your article, particularly since I'm a girl... However, to comment on the actual writing aspect and overall appeal, I would say you did a nice job.  The length was appropriate, and I liked how you bolded your major reasons.

Well done and best of luck as a new hubber!
