It would be really nice if the Summary Ap had a Character Limit Counter like on twitter so you don't lose the latter part of your text when "Done Editing", then have to go back to cut the text to the required limit.
A summary only needs to be one or two brief sentences. More than that will probably be ignored by the search engines.
This is a great idea. I put it in the que for our engineers. Thanks!
OMGosh! This is fantastic! Huge help! Thank you very much for a great idea and speedy implementation!
I haven't checked this new feature out yet, seeing as it has only been implemented in the last few hours, but I would like to see a bigger box for the summary.
I only discovered today while editing summaries, spelling errors within previously written ones.
The box is too small. By the time you on your second sentence, the first has gone from vision and of course you think you typed it correctly.
But if you didn't? You have just shown the world your inability to type, or spell, and lost who knows how many potential customers.
Hey Izzy, you can make the box bigger on your own. Down in the right hand corner, place mouse and click, and pull.
However, I like the counter, but it seems like it's too long? How long of summary is Google going to accept?
I wrote summaries for all my hubs and it seemed as though anything longer than 200 characters wasn't pulled by Google. Not to mention, in the past we were told that Google would pull from the first paragraph and I found that to be a lie.
I recently checked every one of my hubs against Google search engine to see what was pulled and I ran across some of my hubs having a description which was the second paragraph of the second text capsule?
So, I'm getting fed up with the misinformation coming from all different sources. No wonder many others left.
Thanks I never noticed the box size was moveable, that helps!
In the past, Google did pull from the first paragraph as a summary, that is why I am having to re-do all mine now. I noticed this had changed not long after Panda struck.
Without summaries, Google will pull what they perceive to be related text. Without a summary I have seen them pull an unrelated comment from the bottom of the hub!
The summary box is also your meta description and completes your onpage SEO.
Any idea where they have gone? My 380 hubs have dropped now down to 56 clicks a day. HP has over 9million clicks in 0.17 seconds. am I being hammered by the HP God? If so, then I want to know why? I have done a string of the summary capsule and after that it dropped to 56. Marcellous.
Hi Hello, Hello,
I'm unsure. I'm not really qualified to answer your questions. There are simply too many variables to try to account for. I would suggest you email staff and ask them any direct questions.
Sorry.
Well, then Robin is doing a good job as you all are. I was wondering too wether 500 characters wasn't too much.

The character limit for our article summary is 300 characters, yet only a portion of those characters show up beside our article on our profile page. Does anyone know if it is advantageous --in terms of generating more views--to leave our article summary at 300 characters (and not worry about a...

Is this common? On the Google results page, just under the title of my hub, Goodle is using the first sentence of the hub instead of the summary. (Yes, the summary is there on the hub, I checked.) Are summaries just wishful thinking on my part? Is this just more of Google playing hard to get and...

All of my 82 hubs are marked with this. Do I have to write a summary for all of them? I never heard of this. Isn't the first sentence available, or a few more lines if you set it that way? If I have to do this, how long do I have? I had more views that ever today, now I am really bummed again.

I have noticed lately while checking on my hub ranking that my summaries are changed. I was wondering who did that and why? Normally I use several keywords in that summary knowing that's what Google is looking for.I was just wondering if anybody knew. Today my summary was somebodies comment....

I'm finding that the Custom Summaries do improve traffic as they were said to do.I want to know, however, from the folks who do get good traffic on their good hubs still, that recently created a custom summary - how many words should this summary have? Of course putting search terms/keywords...

With your hub you always want to stand out in Google, so more people will visit your hub. Key factors here are your titles and summaries that you use. I found a great tool that you can use to see how your Google result will look like and how you can format your title and summary in such a way that...
