Because I live and work in China I am constantly attacked here about China this and that.

Libya - no news except government generated whitewash.  I mean - no reporting of any single thing from the 'other' side.

Wall street protests - no news of any kind except the government line that they are vandals and no-gooders.

London riots - the same as Wall street and with a constant stream of 'video' clips of bad behaviour.

So much for freedom of speech and human rights then !

I see that the socialist organisations are part of the demonstrations at Wall street with a clear aim and goal of highlighting the banking criminals and their government cronies that everyone here (pretty much) has criticised in the past - I see that they are still being called layabouts and vandals and beaten and arrested.

Where is the protest in people these days, how is it that everyone seems to lay down and accept getting stuffed without a bleat unless it is to support the censored media stories.

Sheeple of the world unite to get yourselves quietly enslaved !  big_smile

Freedom of speech is a myth,IMHO. As for human rights legislation when the coalition govt get their way, and they will get their way, we will have a British bill of rights, which will basically equate to no rights at all. big_smile

I note that the news about Libya seems to have been only from government sources and all other western media are reporting ONLY the government line.  I would say our basic rights have already been removed.

That's true with regards Libya, but they did , and do the same thing with regards to the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. I also agree with regards rights, we have very few left, but with the rhetoric centered around closing down the internet in certain situations, I think things are going to get a whole lot worse.
