Which Gangster Flick is best among...?

   A lot of gangster flicks have been made, but Scorcese in my opinion does it best. He has a firm grasp of what the criminal underworld ought to be; and this I believe he conveyed so well in his movies, Goodfellas, Casino, and The Departed. Among these three movies, which in your opinion is the best?

   of those 3, I liked the departed. And, not on this list, for a movie I saw recently and loved, Donnie Brasco.

      I fall half-in-love with any chick that likes Donnie Brasco. That movie was the ish! Its in my top 10 best movies list. The Departed totally deserved the Best Picture Award it got. And Scorcese finally winning Best Director for it. A thing that had long been denied him.

         jeezum...i didnt know hed never got it before...what the heck? i dont have cable, ive never seen any award shows..so....i watch movies and make up my own mind about them...

            He's been nominated many times for Best Director at the Academy Awards, but has never won until with The Departed. The passed him over with Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas, Casino, etc.

               Anything and all things Scorcese!  Donnie Brasco was very good--true to life.  As was Goodfellas.  I honestly don't think I've seen a Scorcese film I haven't liked.
               
               Gangs of New York was definitely commercial in orientation, and uneven--even so, I enjoyed it.
               
               And Scorcese is the kind of auteur who will be remembered for a superior BODY of work...sometimes I feel the Academy Awards are kind of hit and miss.

   Goodfellas is by far the greatest gangsta flick... well besides Scareface but I will still go with Goodfellas.

   Of the three? Definitely The Departed! But Brasco is my favorite! Oh...and crooked cop flicks...The Professional gets my vote!

    Scarface is classic. As much as I dig Brian De Palma's movies (The Untouchables and Carlito's Way rocked) But in my opinion Scarface would have never been as great a movie as it is without Al Pacino's out-of-the-world performance. Maybe thats why it was by-passed for an Oscar. Its Cinematography wasn't that great. But Al Pacino deserved the Oscar for Best Actor in that movie.
