I found that chewing on tin foil while sticking needles in my eyes was less efficient torture.

Hi everyone. thank your for taking the time to post here. Overall what you posters say is also what the critics are saying. People loved the Oprah Winfrey show but they aren't that keen on the Oprah Winfrey Network.

The Oprah Winfrey Show was a hit round the world. The OWN channel is only available inside the United States and Canada. So far the channel has had limited success. Unlike the Oprah Winfrey Show, OWN is struggling to get good reviews and ratings....

I liked the OW show, until Oprah went all New-Agey and tried to re-define Jesus and salvation.
So, needless to say I haven't got much interest in her Network.

Brenda Durham thank you for your comment here. Yes i too thought the new age oprah wasn't as appealing as the original Oprah who debuted on our screens all those years ago. i'm not sure that the way Oprah has defined herself recently actually appeals to many people. I preferred Oprah when she was true to her American and Christian roots.

I think some of her later output and her involvment in Barack Obama's campaign for presidency has made Oprah less popular. I wonder if The Oprah Winfrey Network is going to survive. The Queen of talk seems to be losing her appeal.

Also people say that OWN repeats its programming each month and there is very little new material each month. Oprah Winfrey was one of televisions most popular hosts. But as you say the new age Oprah does not have the same appeal as the classic Oprah Winfrey Show of many years ago.

I was a big fan of the Oprah Winfrey Show, but to be honest I'm not a fan of OWN, the Oprah Winfrey Network.  I've tried watching several of the shows, but just haven't become hooked on the channel and rarely tune in.

I am not a fan of the network. I thought it would consist of  more well-rounded programs and have a more serious format. It feels more Lifetime for Women than interesting more varied topics would help maybe? I've not stayed long every time I do tune in.
