This site's ridiculous. Case in point (among many others): Today's HotD, "Interesting Facts about Birth Flowers and their meaning" doesn't even have correct punctuation in the summary: "...along with some very, interesting facts." Last I checked, "very" doesn't describe "facts." No comma necessary.
What is this site trying to be? If it doesn't want to be blog-like, where you're sharing emotions, thoughts without real substance, I understand. But if I want to write about something and it doesn't meet each and every thing (particularly those "Evergreen" criterion) deemed worthy by The Almighty One, then you're not going to post it?
Sorry if this is coming off as just a big vent, but I've been on this site off and on for almost a year and still have no idea if I'll make a penny out of it. Constructive criticism only, please.
Best,
Nathan
What's wrong with the punctuation in the title? I couldn't find an error, and as far as the hub goes I thought it was quite interesting and well written- certainly a new slant on flowers and certainly a refreshing change from some boring low down on the "Real Housewives of New Jersey"
Each to their own, I suppose.
"Hubpages query: what is its purpose?"
To provide content for everyone else to steal.
Lol, it sure seems like it! Especially after someone found a complete hubpages clone in French.
It's getting ridiculous and makes it very discouraging to continue producing content for others to profit from.
You could spend all day filing DMCA complaints and you'd never report them all.
We're writing in cyberspace. No matter who you write for, whether it is for an e-zine or your own site, there are thieves on the internet. I don't blame HubPages because some other idiot decided to copy their site or particular hubs to put on their own illegally. It would be like:
QUESTION: "What's my wife's purpose?"
ANSWER: "To provide children for everyone else to steal."
-OR-
QUESTION: "What's my hospital's purpose?"
ANSWER: "To provide sick people for everyone to steal."
It's ridiculous if you ask me.
With that being said, free expression is everyone's right. However, HubPages is a business, and they provide guidelines for its members to join in on that business - just as any other business would. There are plenty of ezine, blog, or other sites that you can write for if you don't want to follow the guidelines of HubPages. In fact, you start your own blog for free on WordPress or your internet service provider (most provide free websites).
Not only is HP a business, I am fond of them.
Glad to hear that, paradignmsearch! Me to!

I have seen numerous hubs published over the past few days that begin with the term "Interesting Facts." The ones I looked at appeared to be well researched and some of the authors are really knocking out a large quantity - one of them has published 120 in a couple of months - I...

I admit to being scared of mice. Ridiculous, I know. But I really am scared of them. Even looking at them makes me feel sick. I hate them.Strangely, I am not worried about rats.

I just came across this one, KaKun dot ru, complete with Adsense ads. Has anyone else seen this?

When it was first introduced I was annoyed by it but made an effort to tweak my hubs to get them out of Idle status. Now, a whole load have got zzs against them again and many of them are hubs that at one point were very successful and even now still have scores above 70 or higher. One of the hubs...
