Why China is developing faster than any other developing countries?

   I want to discuss this because  I am eager of knowing the secret behind the growth of China. China is growing faster in all sectors like technology, production, manufacture, export etc. than any other developing countries in the world. How they have accomplished such a tremendous growth, What is the secret behind them?

      •    Beneficial monetary policy
      •    Theft of technology with no cost to develop the technology
      •    Lower corporate taxes than some countries, including America
      •    Production viewed as more important than everything, including environment and human rights – less regulation
      •    Immense population results in great economic output
      •    Hard work

         Good points, EA, but I will add to that no expenses associated with our global military structure, and resources saved goes back into developing their economy. We are the only ones carrying that milestone around our necks slowing us down relative to other growing economies, like Brazil for example.

            China is right behind the US in terms of either military spending per GDP or total military spending.

            Of course, that spending can, and often does, contribute greatly to many of the things mentioned in the OP like technology or production.

               Thanks for providing that informative chart, Wilderness, but from it is easily seen that the U.S. portions dwarfs others so that even no 2 is much less. While spinoff are possible, it does not make up for the sheer magnitude of this expense, in my opinion anyway. I would have much rather pursued a vigorous space program rather that throw so much money down this rabbit hole. The militarists have yet to explain why we need to spend so much money here and the libertarians are asking that as well.

                  Oh, surely - the US doubles the expenditure per GDP of second place China.  Considering that the "second half" of our GDP goes to luxuries, not necessities, I'm not sure that it is relevant.  If you get what I mean.
                  
                  Well, the militarists explain, you just deny those explanations.  Plus, the biggest reason is that we must police the world - something I deny but recognize that there is truth in, too. 
                  
                  That's not to say that I disagree 100%.  We DO spend to much on defense, and we often spend it in the wrong place.  We NEED to put more into the space program and we NEED to put more into pure research.

                     There is room to reduce defense expenditures relative to the threat that is out there and the money saved returned to the tax payer or invested into the domestic economy.
                     
                     I agree with you enthusiastically about the need to ramp up the space program and put before us workable goals and objectives. How about a manned landing on Mars within the next 15 years? Kennedy challenged us, the technical spin off from such project would be inspiring, without having to police the world. Our technical prowess will be the envy of the world and everybody else will need to figure out how to catch up, once again. I am not interested in that fool's errand of policing the world and find little valuable explanation beyond that given by the militarists, which is obviously of little value.
                     
                     I agree with your assessment of the need to ramp up R and D and it can be done through peaceful pursuit and competition.

                        No, I can't imagine it.  The technological advances that would certainly come out of such a space effort as a Mars visit boggles the mind. 
                        
                        One thing has always bothered me about the military expenditure - is the cost, say of the war in Afghanistan, figured on the cost of machines, personnel salaries, bullets, fuel, etc.?  Or the cost of all that above and beyond what would be paid for the same people in the US, still practicing their trade and shooting bullets, flying planes, etc?
                        
                        Because, IMHO, we DO need a large standing army and one that is superbly equipped.  I am personally pleased that we have the most advanced military in the world and am willing to pay for that.  I don't like sending out cannon fodder to die; I would far prefer to send our people out, when we have to, with the best equipment in the world.
                        
                        So how do we actually save by ending the fighting in far off lands?  Is it but a fraction of what we think would be saved?
