I was doing some research on what the most popular topics were for online writing and I came across a site that discussed those who write seasonal pieces. It provided me with a very useful tip that I didn't know and that I wanted to share with those of you who enjoy these types of articles. It said that for those who write seasonally, it is best to write your piece and post it 3 months before the season or holiday you are writing about in order to benefit from the most amount of traffic....
Write your articles at least 3 months ahead of their most popular time.
Write your summer articles January through April.
Write your Halloween and Christmas articles in the summer and early fall.
Hope this helps others like it helped me! Write on.
Thanks. That is such a good idea!
Thanks for keeping it short, too. I find myself unable to finish articles sometimes because they are so wordy, even though I'm interested in the content.
Great advice, thanks. I am going to try it. Since my religion revolves around the cycle of the seasons I write a lot of seasonal topics in relation to our celebrations.
I try to get them out at least a month in advance because it gives people a chance to find them in their holiday planning. However there are times when I get them out just a few days ahead.
But now that I've been here more than a year I do notice that the once I published last year for the same season tend to do better than the ones published just ahead of the season. So maybe I need to get cracking a couple months early, lol.
That's what I like about my seasonal articles, something is always down, but something is always up.
Kathleen Odenthal,
Great post. I think many people need to realize that if you are posting articles on the internet, like it or not, you are Marketing. I always try to teach business owners that it is easier to swim downstream than up. Your Marketing should flow with the media cycle. (unless you are wealthy and want to pitch a 'counter culture' message)
You don't launch a weight loss product in July. and you don't sell BBQ grills in October. the same goes for writing. Pre-write your articles like Kathleen said then launch them with....WITH the marketing wave. Weight loss articles in January, write about vacation trips in March & june write about skin care in June and July and Soups and stews in September and Cold and flu in October.
IF this sounds familiar to anyone, it should! it was what CNN, FOX, NBC, GMA, and Yahoo News pushes on you. So let the big guys do the heavy lifting and you just market along in their slip stream.
Does everyone have their " top 10 sunscreen" articles almost Finished?

I am sort of disappointed. I try to be active in the site as much as possible, comment on other people's hubs, help out in the forums, add new hubs once every two weeks, participate in the question and answer and my hubscore is slowly decreasing. Any advice from expert Hubbers on how to...

The Medium platform sounds great. Writers' income does not come from advertising (yay!) but from a chunk of the membership fees. But here is the catch: As a non paid up member you are only allowed to read three articles per month for free. After that, if you are interested in a topic and want...

What is more fun? Writing dozens of articles for a niche or writing all sorts of articles from holidays to teeth whitening? And leave aside the fun, what about the money - which has more potential? What would you rather do as a writer on HP - niche writing or free lancing?

Hello, fellow Hubbers! I am relatively new to Hubpages...I've been writing here for around three months. College has recently started for me, and I am struggling to find time to write quality articles. In addition to lack of time, I'm also suffering from writer's block. I haven't really found a...

I write how-to and recipe hubs. I know the recipe hubs will make money eventually but I have read that technical hubs get more views. What is your thoughts or experience on this topic?
