I'm confused! For the last week my traffic seems to have been higher than ever before - however, my earning rate per 1,000 views has halfed! I cannot understand why because very little of my Hubpages income comes from affiliate sales (ebay/amazon) anyway and my payment rate is usually consistent. Have Hubpages or Adsense cut their payment rates?
Can you explain? I've been here for six years and during all that time my earnings have been consistent until this week.
The same thing happened to me in late July. My views remained the same, but earnings were halved. When I look at the Google Adwords suggested bid prices for terms that I have been ranking for; I can understand why.
There seems not to be a lot of advertising competition there hence a low CPM for those views.
What does CPM mean? http://hubpages.com/faq/#hpads-cpm
One of the online advertising payment models. The acronym means "cost per mille," and advertisers pay for every 1000 impressions of their advertisement. This is a dynamic number based on what advertisers are willing to pay to show their advertisement on a specific page at any given time. http://hubpages.com/learningcenter/maki … y-HubPages
Hmm, just sounds like a sneaky, crafty and devious way of blatantly ripping publishers off. Just as I was thinking of making a return to Hubpages too - this sucks! Is there any site out there any more where writers don't get ripped off?
You are always free to use adsense only instead of the HP program. Most find it pays less, but you can use it and avoid the sneaky site ripping you off as they provide a free place to post your work.
I've tried that before and made virtually nothing until I linked Adsense with my Hubpages account. I think it worked out something stupid like 3p ($0.03c) for 10,000 views! Adsense is the biggest rip off ever and is completely pointless - should be illegal in my opinion!
I always say this ... if you want to earn money being an online writer go and do something else. Pay rates for online writing will always change because advertisers (and Google) are the winners.
I have been doing just fine for the last 6 years... until now! This is something which has just come completely out of the blue. Makes no sense whatsoever to me. I also write at several other sites, carry out work at several other sites, etc so this is not my only source of income. But in six years of writing I have never seen Hubpages earnings this low before - something is not right.
I mentioned in another thread on this issue that I read an article awhile back (on tickerforum.org) that revenues per click have been down. What this means is that online sales are poor or declining, so advertisers are unwilling to pay as much per click. To me, it seems like revenues per click might go up over the holidays, and hence pay per click. I guess we'll see.

I was refraining about talking about this but it really is bad. Last month with adsense was my most profitable month, but this month so far I got 3 clicks...What could have made this change?-New Hubpages Layout?-April 1st Conflicker Virus? I was thinking these two things can't be so harmful to my...

Will they still be allowed to continue writing for the niche sites or will this site be diluted as our best writers and their work leave for a better deal?

I just de-activated my HubPages ads program and I was wondering if someone has any experience to share. Did your AdSense revenue increase after de-activating HP ads?

I just wrote a Hub last week entitled "Adam Lambert Sexed for Success". It did quite well, in fact it receive over 1700 views in less than a week. (that's good for me, anyway). My overall ranking on hubpages as of this morning was 96. The article was ranked anywhere from 87 - 93 and the...

This month hits my record low for adsense earnings, I did not even reach payout! This has not happened since 2008 when I first joined. I find this odd as it never happened before. Thankfully, the hubpages ad program along with amazon/ebay helps compensate the loss, so I am not complaining, but I...
