You are enjoying a wonderful Alaskan Cruise when the unthinkable happens—yes, the ship has been struck by an iceberg! Thank goodness there are enough lifeboats for everyone but you are restricted to one very small case. While trying to decide what to bring one of the crew members tell you that you've got only FIVE MINUTES to make your choice.

    What Will You Take?

      1.    Cash and my ID
      2.    Prescriptions
      3.    Family Photos
      4.    Bottle Water and Granola Bars (an emergency must for me)

FYI - this might have been good to put in the Q&A section - it's a fun question.

But, since it's here, I'll play:

    Contact lens & case.
    Case & ID (Passport)
    Important meds, if any
Cell Phone & computer (both are small, and have my work on them)
    Water bottle & energy bars
Any other valuable small stuff (sentimental jewelry, camera)

To be on the safe side, I'd wear double outer clothing (waterproof jacket & head coverings) in case there's a chance of getting wet or iced up.
If there's room, I'd pack an extra pair of warm socks & extra shoes (ditto on the wet stuff)

(Hey - don't knock the camera idea - after we are rescued, I can use the photos for a hub!)

Being an experienced journalist (in my dreams!) I keep a camera hanging from my neck! Also, I was layered extensively so I wasn't too concern about not having any room for additional clothing.

Question - how would an iceberg strike the ship?  I thought it happened the other way around.

Wait - I get it - we are in Alaska watching a glacier calve, and a huge piece breaks off, right in front of the ship.  We are all writers & photographers, so it gets documented beautifully.

It's also a huge news event, because of the excellent documentation and the glacier thing. So we are rescued very promptly and flooded with newscasters wanting to interview us for CNN. The documentary producers from A&E are on their way, too.

In that case, I'll wear my sexiest down jacket (yeah, right - we all know how sexy they are), and I will take my make-up case & hairbrush.

    I feel better now.

Right! The Iceberg broke loose from a glacier! We were watching one break apart and was so awed by the turbulence that followed that no one really noticed at first. This is a large private cruiser especially commandeered for the occasion.
