A few weeks ago I ran across a comment from a Hubber that was basically: I write the articles now knowing it will be 6+ months before it picks up steam and generates traffic. (I wish I could find the thread again). In the context of the thread it seemed like it takes that long for an article to be indexed in Google and move up the search ranks. Did I understand that correctly? I've read so many threads and articles on how things may or may not move up the Google search ranks and I still don't really understand it.
My strategy was to try to stay consistent with my titles because the first article I wrote does very well in a Google search. There are so many very technical explanations out there and it's all so far out of my expertise of understanding. Should I assume that little explanation blurb should also be consistent in using terms commonly searched in Google or is it more related to the title?
My goal this year is to actually produce some content so I want to grasp this before I really get going.
Hi Alice,
Unfortunately, yes, it sounds like you understood correctly. While the indexing itself happens quickly, it can take months for your article to gain authority, trust, ranking, and decent traffic in search engines. Writing for a search engine audience is an endeavor that takes a lot of patience.
Is writing for a search engine audience the best strategy or what most people do? Or is there some other strategy I should be trying? I have pinned things to Pinterest but that's about it.
Yes, it's what tends to be the most successful on HubPages. What I meant is that writing here and being successful does take patience. Unfortunately, there are not really any quick solutions or shortcuts.
Most of my successful articles are from 2013 and 2014. I have seen a few articles jump to the top of their category and get good traffic immediately, but very few. Most of us have to wait for others to read the article, link to it, and then Google eventually recognizes it and moves it up in the rankings. In the meantime, it is a good time to write another article.

In the last few months, I've spent a long time updating all of my network hubs, improving the language and flow, breaking up the text, getting better pictures, fixing links, adding more recent research, updating stats, titles, descriptions, etc. My traffic across these 100 or so hubs seems to have...

Can anyone help me figure out how to best optimize my hubs? I have several that have scores of 90 and above but they hardly get any views...I'm not sure how I could improve that. Even ones that have been changed by Hubpages' editors still don't get much traffic. Is it just the titles that I should...
