Is it a new trend for rap artists to go to jail for publicity?

Seems to me as if all the rap artists are currently in jail or on there way to jail  or out on probation!

No. I believe that it is old habits of a destructive lifestyle that rappers carry into their career. Bottom-line...you can take the rapper out of the game, but you can't take the game out of the rapper.

Were these rappers in the game! I know the lyrics state that they were invovled but if you go back to previous interviews. Some rappers has said a picture is all they are painting when rapping. Time again they rap on multiple killings, drug traffiic, pimping but they are still walking around, if that was ever true the rapper would had never been discovered.  rapper would had be locked up.  So i feel like so far in the game they do something for attention to continue there story. Only now they have viewers watching them so the do it for show. So that the people who believe them would had actually witnessed and it want seem as a front.

I don't think it's necessarily new.  I do suspect that a big part of record sales can be tied to the law-breaking that some hip-hop artists commit.  But this isn't really any different from the tabloid drama that movie starlets go through.
True, in this case hip-hop artists are breaking the law and not just stepping into a restaurant with a different partner every night, but the concept is the same: getting headlines = better sales.
