Should people be paid for Organ Donation?
In the UK, Cash incentives or Funeral Expenses are ideas currently being put forward to encourage people to donate Human Organs. A lot of people die, while awaiting Transplants. Do you have any thoughts about this?
In any place of the world Id be totally against it. Although it might be a bit extreme its a *legalized and modernized" system for slavery.
If you put a price on humans body you're going just back to slavery and people will start selling their bodies.
Imagine a husband with a lot of debts, what'd stop him from commiting suicide and then earn some profit to pay the debts? It'd surely look interesting for desperate people.
Funeral expenses in the other hand might be nice, since you wont really have any gain or profit that'd give you the chance of even considering it.
Any sort of incentive that could benefit the family with their problems would be horrible with the only exception of funeral expenses as thats something you'd have to go if you die.
no because you do not get paid for being born and living life so no i dont agree with you
It seems a good idea but I think secretly many of us would wonder who is following us around seeking an accident for us because their mother needs a kidney, but I guess not everyone has the gift of suspicion like me and may go for it.
I think that sense others profit from your organ donation why shouldn't the donor or their family? This seems like a no brainer (pardon the pun!) after one's death, especially in light of the fact that many people opt to be cremated. Where I think there is controversy is when someone would sell say a healthy kidney for cash! It seems that wealthy people could be coming up with organs by less than savory means. My main line of reasoning is your body, your life, and your decision!
I have no problem with someone being paid, however, I think the word donate should not be used if this is the case. Public Television, The Red Cross, Feed The Children, are but a few examples that people donate to, and, I do not believe there really is such a thing as paid donation. If you are being paid, you are not donating.
I don't think so, as it is already encouraging poor people to donate organs for a pittance. On a darker sinister note, some people are disappearing because of this.
I think this is volunteer action. sometime you cannot use money to buy those organ so, what's the point when you trying to pay them.

Yes. In countries like Pakistan, where, people sell their kidneys to secure food for a month or two, organs can not be donated. It is a luxury only for the rich to give connotations to a need.
Since most organ donation happens postmortem, I would have to say no.
I imagine that there is a positive healing affect to knowing that your loved one didn't die in vain. His heart saved a single mom. His marrow saved a little boy. I had & still have trouble with the fact that I dressed my sweet earthly king up in his best and was handed a stupid certificate in return. I can't imagine someone dealing with being handed a small check for their loved ones usable parts. Although hospitals charge outrages fees for their services, they would not pay you much.

Is it selfish to choose not to donate your organs after you die?Only 25% of Canadians and less than 40% of Americans are organ donors. Is there any reason for you, as a dead person, to keep your organs that's more important than possibly saving another person's life? Should organ...
