Not sure how I would go about this blog

   so say you wanted to make a blog with "healthy recipes" which I currently do because nutrition and healthy dieting is something I enjoy. How do I go about this without stealing content and having copyright issues ?
   
   I mean I'm no pro cook and I don't make the recipes myself, but if I just copy recipes than I feel like I'm stealing work.

      If you ask me recipes are simply not protected by copyright.

      i'm glad you asked that. i was thinking of hubbing some really good recipes i have found from The Food Network - Ina Garten made these amazing chocolate ganache cupcakes, and i adpated the recipe to make a chocolate raspberry torte, which everyone loves! so i guess, after reading everyone's responses, you could adapt the recipe in your own words and then maybe take some pictures of your creations. good luck!

   ahh thanks, so taking the best recipes found from various sources around the web would be alright, assuming I don't just copy and paste things like directions and made my own pictures and such.

   Perhaps if you gave credit to the authors of the recipes that you wish to write about, it would feel better to you.
   It appears to me as though you would be promoting what they have created, that can't harm them. Frankly, if you write about a recipe, with the source's name listed, and I like it I might choose to purchase say, a cookbook that they have written.
   Since you are a professional cook, I am making an assumption here, but educated at one of the many fine cooking schools here and abroad, I might consider you an expert if I knew your credentials; and could only come to admire you for assisting me in my quest for a healthier lifestyle.
   Speaking as someone with a great deal of experience in the restaurant business in New England, I must say that most of the chefs whom I have had the pleasure of knowing (and always learning from) have recipes, or variations (aren't they all just that, really?) of recipes of their own. If you are a 'healthy' cook, then I would probably also like to learn some of your cooking techniques as well as some of the ways of combining ingredients and foods that might be unique to you.
   Take the leap. You aren't going to harm anyone.
   I think that you've already shown a fair shake of integrity. I hope that you do share what you know, and if you do, I for one look forward to learning from you. ~M

   Annnddddd, even if you aren't a 'pro', you may certainly know more about a specific aspect of healthy cooking that I am interested in learning, therefore, wouldn't I gain something, benefit, from what you have written??

   The recipes themselves are not copyrighted but the instructions and directions are... Just rewrite the directions in your own words.

   If you are going to write about a recipe you received off of say Food Network, make sure you CREDIT Food Network.

      yea I definitely would. Probably would write my personal thoughts on the recipe and things I did with it than add a link to the web page I got it from.
