Is it possible to experience "Empty Nest Syndrome" without having an "Empty Nest" ???????
It will be about 16 more years until my youngest is 18. But I think alot about when they will be moved out and living their own lives. Does anyone else feel this way or felt this way in the past???????????
I think it's pretty normal. My son is 2 years old and I often think about him moving out, getting married and becoming a father. Because so much growth happens, both physically and developmentally during the first few years of a child's life, it only seems natural that a parent's mind will wander to the future because you remember when your child was just born and they've grown so much now right before your eyes.
To think about an empty nest and experience an empty nest are completely different and one cannot prepare you for the other. My son has been in college for the past few years and my daughter just left for college last week, out of state. No, there is nothing that could have prepared me for this even when I used to consider it when they were young.
My suggestion is to just enjoy every day you have with your child because the years go by so very quickly.
Thanks HappyHer. I will hold onto your advice with enjoying everyday I have with them. I can pretty much guess when the time comes for them to go I am going to be a mess. (Even though sometimes now when they drive me to the edge of insanity I think there will be quieter days) I still wish they could stay little forever!!!!!!!

Is the "Empty Nest" Syndrome Real?I haven't quite reached an empty nest and am not really sure how I will feel when the last one of my kids moves out. But it is actually nice when the two I have left are spending the weekend elsewhere. I love my kids, but also love my downtime and being...
