I'm not really sure of what you're asking; however, how about:
They were fighting. - to - They are fighting.
Your stupid I understand her and I'm 12 so......yeah.
This question WAS written in a confusing way and IS confusing.
The past present tense for WERE is ARE and the future tense is WILL BE
They were children, you are children and those babies will be children.
If you are trying to change tenses with 'were' use this guide as follows:

Past Singular: was
Present Plural: are
Present Singular: is
Future: will, may

There are times where I catch myself writing present tense and past tense together in the same article. Technically, I don't think I can do this. But, I would like to because the article seems to flow better. What do you think?
