Do you believe that the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer in this economy?
No, I think in this economy everyone is kind of losing. The rich are no longer that rich anymore and the poor are even poorer. It sucks, but since our economy is slowly becoming kind of stagnant...things will only get worse (in my cynical opinion) =[
I read that Bill Gates along with many other billionaires are currently pledging half of their fortunes towards humanitarian causes/research across the world. It's a great cause, but I wish they'd use some of that $$ to fish our government out of debt...after all, poverty (though not that extreme) exists here too.
Most definately. It's all one big transfer of wealth. While the middle class are selling off their assets that they bought at inflated prices to stay afloat, the rich, the ones who sold the middle class the inflated assets, are buying them back at rock bottom prices.
So sad...
THE RICH GET RICHER...THEY ARE ABLE TO GAIN WHERE OTHERS ARE LOOSING. THEY CAN AFFORD TO TAKE RISKS THAT USUALLY PAY OFF. THEY CAN AFFORD TO MOVE FORWARD IN BUSINESS WHEN OTHERS ARE CRIPPLED. THEY CAN ACCUMULATE MORE WEALTH.
Yes, wealth breeds wealth whereas poverty breeds poverty. I also heard that if you would distribute all the money evenly over the population, it would be back in the same hands after a few years. Why? Because the rich will keep doing the things that made them rich and the poor will keep doing the things that made them poor. It's not the economy, it's the people.
Yes, unfortunately. The middle-class is becoming extinct. And, yes the saying you have to spend/have money to get money is true.
i don't believe it, it's a fact. read any items about wealth and you will see that the people being hurt by recessions are rarely the wealthy but mostly people who are already poor or close to it.
I'd have to say yes, it seems what we are told about "opposites attracting" all our lives is bogus; clearly like attracts like.
Think about it: it's easy to get money from a bank if you already money, it's easier to get credit if you already have credit. It's even easier to find a job if already have one, go figure.
Seems like need also attracts more need and wants attract wants.
In my opinion, the rich do get richer because basically everything is on sale, stocks, real estate, businesses, etc... If you know anything about the rich, you know that you get a lot of stuff for free and other people want to pay for them, like dinner, drinks, free tickets to events. When your poor, you pay for everything. Being rich is not a bad thing, but most poor people hate the rich and think it's unfair. The rich sacrifice a lot of there life to their work, that's why they are rich, poor people....well, you figure it out.
yes but I think the poor think they cant com-peat but they really can.

I stumbled across these two videos that proclaim that thought, (rich get richer...), is a myth unsupported by factual data. Both are conservatively biased sources. But, is their data wrong? Does the source matter if it is only the data that is considered.Stossel's point claims that while the rich...

If the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer, how does the middle class shrink?Seems like more space is created and with population always increasing, seems like the middle class should expand, not shrink or disappear. Right?
