   I think it depends on what kind of job one is hoping to land. In some professions, it wouldn't be a problem while in others it would be not only a detriment, but would rule one out completely. When in doubt, go without

   Not in my opinion. Actually it all depends on the job you are applying for. If you are apply for an upper management position then it might be wise to take out the piercings at least for the interview. You want to be remembered for the hard worker you are not the guy or girl who walked in with all these piercings. Piercings do not define your work ethic, but people will always make assumptions from their first meeting so you might be at a disadvantage if you go to an interview with a face piercings. Again it depends on the job you are interviewing for.

   You would get a job as a telemarketer if nothing else . They had a few there with piercings.

   Very appropriate. From my experience for 3 years as Human Resource Development  (HRD). When the first job interview that I saw was the physical appearance. So, when someone has a piercing on the face, ears, or nose, especially men. So I as a human resources department has given the assessment that is less of that person.

   It most definitely depends on the job and how desperate the employer is to fill a position.  Face piercings should not be a hindrance if you want to clerk in a tattoo parlor.  If you want to be a loan officer for a mortgage company, face piercings will probably present a roadblock.  Simply stated, at the lower end of the job spectrum, they should not be a problem but the higher up the ladder you go, they become more of a problem.

   I'm sorry to say it, but I think they would. Not that I have anything against them - but then there are so many who do. Especially people hiring for customer-facing positions. My opinion is that piercings are fine - but it's not my opinion you need to be worried about - it's the person offering you the job! I know plenty of travel agencies won't take anybody with face piercings - because they imagine customers will be put off by them, regardless of whether or not the customers actually will be! So it's a disadvantage. It shouldn't be, but it is, I think.

   Definately!!!!!!
   Look at this from an anthropological point of view: primitive societies and cultures practice the "art" of putting bones and feathers, and rings through their cheeks, noses, lips, ears, etc.
   Do you choose to appear primitive, rather than sophisticated, then you can expect a job in the mailroom rather than the boardroom.
   Just as "dressing for success" is a proven fact, so is piercing equivilent to "dressing for low-level positions".

   I believe it depends on the industry not only the type of job. Like a job in an accountancy or law practice - definitely not. However, in the creative media, and entertainment industry - it works.

    Yes in my opinion it is a very high disadvantage, for the simple fact that face piercings do not look pleasant.  Of course, if you are interviewing for a tattoo parlor that is a whole different scenario

    Totally depends on the job position you're interviewing for. If you're trying to land a job in a piercing or tattoo shop, it'd be a perk but if the interview is for a corporate position, you won't stand a chance.

    I usually take my lip piercing out for interviews. Should I be successful for the job, I always ask the employer if they are comfortable with me leaving it in during work. If not, it's really not a big deal to take out.

    Absolutely not. Providing you are applying for a position that:
    Never deals face to face with the public
    Gives Tattoos
    Washes Dishes
    Mops floors
    Cleans toilets
    And other than the tattoos, I'd still make you take it all out to work anyway, so why not take it out for the interview.

    Yes unfortunitly they would be a disadvantage (which i dont believe is right ) but first impersonations mean everything in a interview so its worth taking them out
