Don't you hate websites with imposed music?
I call it imposed music because it is imposed on you. You enter the site and start hearing some stupid sound you would never get into your ears normally. The button to shut it is nowhere to be found. You have no choice but to close the browser. Don't you hate that? What do you think?
I think ,although it can agrivate me too, that i'ts the choice of the creator, We can't pick and chose or micro manage what attracts others , I think, you like myself! Are a little touchy.LOL.......
Imposing music on your visitors is not good practise and it is surely going to drive people away. Usually it happens on websites by authors with terrible taste in music...
I do. That is one of the reasons I avoid myspace and facebook except like once a week.
'You have no choice but to shut down the browser'? It's easy to get out of it without shutting down the browser, turn off your speakers, that's hard isn't it.
Makes me want to take the website out of the screen and smash it with a hammer. I don't know what's worse, being surprised by the music, having 10+ tabs open and not knowing the source, or when you're listening to your regular lovely music and they mix to form an extremely annoying chaos.
I think imposed music is quite annoying. Especially when I'm (which I usually am) listening to songs on iTunes already and there's then just a blur of noise because the two songs are clashing. Although it's worse when you've got about 10 tabs up and can't find which one the sound's coming from, lol.
For me it depends on the site. If I am on a site like Youtube or something music based where I know what to expect while looking up artists I do not mind and am surprised when the songs are not auto playing.
As for sites that I am first visiting.. yes the insta-tunes can be very annoying. I believe nothing should play instantly when most visitors are unfamiliar with the site.
I love music but throwing it right at someone when they dont expect it is bad business. Unless you want your visitors to feel the "starting your car up after forgetting to turn down the radio the day before" effect as a first impression.
It is as LewisBrown and spookyfox describes, I can't find which tab it is. And it is 4 am and there isn't a whisper to be heard in the entire building other than me hitting keys and the computer fan humming. And then all of a sudden some local music bursts. Sure, it is expectable if you are visiting a band website but it makes me crazy when I come across music in a resource website just to read something.
Yes I do hate the imposed music. But I am always rescued by a friend close at hand - my mute button.

Is the 5 Billion dollars fine imposed on Goldman Sachs fits the crime? The government reached a settlement with Goldman Sachs of 5 Billion dollars for deceiving investors about the mortgage derivatives that caused the recession of 2008. As of today, not one person have been charged or gone to jail...
