   Can Rory McIlvoy really come back from his 2011 US Masters defeat?
   
   To lead a tournament and then shoot 80 in the last round and not even get in the top 10 is a major hurdle to get over for anybody.  So can he really gain from this experience and be a better golf competitor in the future.

   Don't know about him, but Rory McIlroy certainly can. He has more than a half century of golf ahead of him, and the older players may not get the yardage, but remember, golf is played between the ears. All mental. I can't tell you how many promising golfers I knew who could hit the big ball, but never put it all together. Rory got the yips yesterday; a passing blow.

   i think not only can he but he will. he's still very young with a lot of potential. i'm thinking that this was a great lesson for him.

   Of course he can, he's shown the whole world the skill that he has on the course, and now that he's dealt with the heat and pressure of a major tournament, he'll be able to win one and I think he will in the near future.

   Absolutely. The poise and respect for the game he displayed after gameplay ended on sunday showed how mature he is. He even tweeted afterward saying how his experience in the Masters will only make him stronger and more competitive in the future. Although he did show frustration on the course sunday, it was nothing like the display of anger Tiger has showed in the past.

   McIlroy will bounce back from this, it was a steep learning curve but he will come back stronger.    Yes undoubtably he can. He was never a certain winner anyway, only one or two shots ahead of a lot of other players at any given time, so he can't feel that he threw away a certain championship in the way that some have done in the past (Greg Norman, Jean Van der Velde among others). Sure he had a few horrid holes, but I'm sure that's happened before. The only thing is, when he next gets close to a major title, it may have a negative effect on his nerves, particularly when driving, but it shouldn't affect his game long term.

   Rory has the choice to dwell on defeat or to move on.  It's up to him.  Certainly he has the good will of the fans behind him.  Unfortunately, since it makes a good media story, he'll be questioned about his performance at the Masters for a good long time. I'd lay my bet on Rory being able to respond with good humor at age 21 as well as he will at age 51.
