What is the best way to give a dog medication?
I have tried hiding it in cream cheese and butter . . . but no luck.
Try rolling it up in a piece of lunch meat. It's the only thing that works with my dog. With everything else, she will find a way to separate the medicine from the food. With lunch meat, though, she scarfs it down so fast, she doesn't even notice. If that still doesn't work, pull out the big guns by stuffing it into a small chunk of meatloaf or something similar. That should do the trick. Good luck!
If it is a pill, you might consider grinding it up and then rolling it into cheese or peanut butter. Most dogs love chees and peanut butter and will not notice the medication when they swallow it. Leaving the pill whole usually just means the dog will digest the cheese and spit out the pill...grinding it up gets it done most of the time. WB
Usually, the dog would take the medication with a soft treat that they like. Although, I have also seen the dog spit it out too.
If you can crush the pill, put it in applesauce or something like that. Your pet may take it then.

We purchased "pill pockets" to help our pup take a bitter pill. It's a soft treat that has a hollow middle, where you can place and seal the pill.
