Should the draft be reinstated?
Would reinstating the draft 1) have a positive influence on decreasing crime and, 2) make lawmakers think twice about getting the U. S. involved in foreign conflicts? Anything else?
Have a positive influence on decreasing crime? Not likely. When the economy got so bad recruitment shot up through the roof and those huge signing bonuses recruiters were offering went away. Anybody who would opt for a life of crime over military service to begin with is going to find a way to weasel out of the draft and we already have enough mindless idiots and borderline sociopaths in our military thanks to declining standards. Drafting more incompetent, dishonest and lazy soldies will just put more lives in danger.
An antiwar movement would be more widespread and more vocal if there was a draft but that is exactly why it probably won't happen. Big private contracters make money off these uselss wars and that is part of the reason the US gets involved in them to begin with. War is big business and a draft would probably cost these contractors money in the long run. Since they own so many members of congress they would never let something like that happen.
Given our current situation, I would not support a draft. It would take a direct threat against the US to sway public opinion and justify a draft. I would worry about the morale of our military. I can't hold congress responsible for many of the conflicts in which we are currently involved. Current and past Presidents have ignored the War Powers Act and bypassed congress.
1) No
2) Yes
The most peaceful countries in the world, like Switzerland, employ mandatory citizen armies.
Draft is a waste of time and money. Those who are interested in military will join it that way or another. Training and feeding people who don't give a damn about it is pointless. When they go out they forget everything right away. It's better to invest that money in those, who will make a use of it.

What if we reinstated the gold standard to evaluate the dollar in its' current distribution. Since the debt standard has been blown apart in recent years could a real precious metal you can touch make a comeback?

What would happen if Congress were 100% Republican?I mean this as a serious question. Consider it a thought experiment. If you want, you can spout the usual political dogma of your party, but give it some real thought and then respond. Try not to give pat answers. And I'll ask this same question,...

There are a few people I'd like to leave comments for, but most times when I read an article it's on a niche site, and so far on each I've seen no place to add my comment. Given that there are often many other comments present, is it possible to circumvent this problem?

Personally, I think he can.The definition of a terrorist is "a person who uses unlawful violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims.". Clearly, the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers and al Qaeda and the Taliban fit that definition. But...
