What web design software do you use?

I'm looking to improve my skills, currently I code using notepad and feel I could use something that is web-specific for development. It doesn't have to be WYSIWYG.

Huge fan of both Joomla and WordPress!  Super flexibility, worldwide communities and evolving growth.

Thanks for the recommendation, but I am looking for a HTML/CSS/etc. authoring tool, not a content management system. I just downloaded bluefish, but not familiar with anything other than plain text editor.

I am currently going to school to be a web content developer and I have tried a lot of free trials with a lot of web design software. The best one by far is Dreamweaver, in my opinion, but it costs an arm and a leg lol However it might be worth it if you ever plan on making a career out of web design. It makes the coding of web design so much easier and it was easy to learn how to use it. Most of the more inexpensive software I have tried really didn't compare to Dreamweaver, but another decent program you can try that is a little similar to notepad is NoteTab Light. It's free and can also be used as a powerful text manipulation tool. Komodo Edit isn't bad either.

Dreamweaver is by far the best web code editor I have used, however I work on a mac, and still love to use text wrangler. Text wrangler is free, and if you are only working with HTML/CSS is a powerful editor for you.

For a PC, I've used Komodo Edit, and wasn't too much of a fan. I think it was me more than the program, but I didn't use it long. For the PC I am a fan of Notepad ++, which at the time that I used it, the program was free.
