Are computers making us less human or are they disclosing a new aspect of humanity?
Barely 30% of the world population has a computer or access to Internet. Some say the gap between the haves and haves not is getting deeper... Are we growing disconnected from the crude reality of hunger, for example? Or are we better informed and able to do something about it through the web?
Advancement in technology is a natural evolution and it need not be distracted with the economic and social inequalities. Often new technologies help to solve some of the problems you have mentioned. So let us not link both.
Poverty, hunger is a different issue and it need to be handled with focus on solving that issue. Credible leadership, willingness to look into long term - focus on health care and education are some of the issues that need to be dealt with while dealing with socio-economic issues. Surely Internet can help doing few things in faststrack.
The internet keeps us better informed. And just look at all of the sites you find who are raising funds for disasters and poverty. Funds they night never have received if it were not for the internet.
Plus it helps families who are separated to keep in touch who would maybe only get a monthly letter containing only minor details.
In order to start things out right (at least in my thought patterns), I thought it would be good to break things down a bit first. So let's go over what technology is, because I feel that it is confused a lot by our modern era.
