What are your biggest grammar issues or those you see others having?
Staying in the proper tense throughout the article. I re-read my Hubs before I publish them like 10 times, and I still find crap wrong. I guess I get a few points for even proofing them, judging by some of the wonderful stuff I see Hub Hopping. LOL
When people can't tell the difference between "you're" and "your". Biggest. Pet. Peeve. Ever.
I hate when I say 'thank you' to someone on Facebook or via email and get a 'your welcome' in response. I twitch before responding, explaining the difference between 'you are' and the possessive 'your'.
JediJessicuh--I actually just published a hub that included "you're" and "your"!!! Cool! I'm jotting down more ideas to write about.
Using extraneous commas are quite annoying.
Also overusing CAPS get's under the skin
a paragraph that never ends ... i always find those kind of hubs difficult to read. need more white space.
I see tons of alot when it should be a lot. Also, you could address punctuation and quotation marks. I see a lot of punctuation outside the marks when it should be inside.
Their and they're (they are) and there. So often confused. I also hate the use of your when it's meant to be you're.
I think correct grammar can be a big factor in being taken seriously in internet writing (or any type of writing, of course). The things that tend to occur the most are those that have already been mentioned -- "your, you're" and "their, there, they're", mixing up those kinds of things. Also, misplaced apostrophes. Remembering the difference between a plural (no aprostrophe) and something belong to someone (Word Caddy's soap box on which she climbs to talk about grammar).
Obviously everyone can make typos and mistakes but it's the repeat offenders that annoy me.
The misuse of 'your' and 'you're' and 'there', 'their' and 'they're' and 'lose' and 'loose' drive me absolutely NUTS! And also spelling such as 'cherrys' instead of 'cherries'.
This is also a huge pet peeve of mine and I can't understand why such a large majority of the population don't know the difference. But I never point it out, as for some reason, some people get offended and defensive by the correction and think I'm being uptight.... it is bizarre. I've only corrected someone once and got berated for it - so never again!
I know it shouldn't bother me but it really does.
What Textured Ideas says basically covers the most common problems. There are a couple of other common problems I've noticed:
- " '....I like that idea, too.' She said." (" '....I like that idea, too,' she said.")
- Double-spaces or even triple spaces after period. ("..., she said. The next day...")
- Question-mark in the wrong place: "Why is that, he asked?"
- No spaces after punctuation: "...better late than never. The next day..."

As a writer, do you use commas, here, and there. Or do you use commas, here and not there?I make a living online as a writer, and I believe that writers have to use good judgement sometimes in punctuation, but I have conflicting editors that believe that commas should be used after the first word,...

Does bad grammar and spelling bother you?I don't expect everyone to be an English professor, but for goodness sake people, use some punctuation and a built in spell-check! This is primarily aimed at forums, hubs, and places like YouTube comments. Places where people could take the time to read over...
