Do you have any SEO tips that you can share to newbies?
I am new in SEO and I want to garner some tips in how I can optimize my site. Thank you
Hello,
I will create a hub talking about SEO techniques for beginners and publish it later this week.
wow. that would be great. i guess, i should follow you to track your hub about SEO tips and techniques.
Promote the hell out of yourself. I started out on SEO by researching google Trends and then writing about them. Also, think of big events that are coming up. The superBowl, world Cuo, etc, write stuff on these both before, durign and after and you'll get hits and slowly build up a following. Use keywords that people will search for. What would you search for to get to a good article? there's your beginner SEO techniques. Trends, events and personalizing it, for the win! I was a full time freelancer for five years and worked from home from my income, now I just treat it as a secondary income
There is a new course coming out today that teaches SEO, provides a platform to build an ecommerce store and the necessary tools to implement your SEO tactics. It is called eFormula! I'm offering a special bonus for the product so contact me if you are interested.
Choose 5 keywords, use them in your Description meta tag, and Footer and use them atleast 2 times in your page Body Text in order to increase the relevancy of those keywords.
Hey Rob - I'm just learning about SEO myself, so I don't have a lot of knowledge yet, but there is one thing I've been dealing with this week that might be useful to know.
You'll want to keep checking to make sure your content is not duplicated elsewhere on the internet, or you risk watering down your traffic, or worse yet, dropping off the search engines altogether, while your ranking is usurped by your plagiarizers.
I've been googling my articles at least once a week. Already found 3 plagiarized hubs, and working on getting them removed. Apparently, it's a never-ending job!
I have written a few hubs on this topic that you might want to read since it is too much to put here. But in a nutshell, research keywords first, then include keywords in your url (web address) and title for sure. Next use keywords and variations of them in headings throughout your hub. Headings are the title you give each of your text capsules. Of course you want some keywords within the actual text, especially at the beginning and end. Additionally, write good content in a natural language (not keyword-stuffed) about topics that people actually search for.
The comments posted are pretty good thus far. I just wanted to add that there are a lot of things that you can do yourself. SEO is a science, and takes a lot of time. I have included tips and tricks on my site www.tekstardesign.com. But I will mention some here today, for those who don't know yet.
(sorry if I give away too many trade secrets, but I truly believe that you must give it away to get it)
1) Keyword analysis
-use google's adwords keyword tool (free) to determine the amount of local searches for the keywords that you are trying to show up for. The key here is to find as specific a term as possible. example:if you are a dentist, you do not simply want to tackle the very difficult task of ranking high for such a general keyword. Type in Dentist and see how many results come up. True enough, this number is the number of instances that the term is mentioned, but its still a lot to compete with. So, you're best strategy would be to narrow down the term to include a specialty, or perhaps even an area. For example, make your target keywords cosmetic dentistry Calabasas. This would help you rank higher in the results for anyone searching for a cosmetic dentist in the city of Calabasas.
The question that sums it all up is: Do you want to rank on page 66 of google search results for dentists, or be seen in the third position on the first page of google for cosmetic dentistry Calabasas? The latter will drive more useful traffic to your site.

I love being of help to those trying to improve their site traffic. Someone had to teach me, so I don't mind teaching others. Thanks, more topics to come
Moz has tutorial for the beginners, that has even PDF download option, which I think really easy to understand for newbies.
