meat has alot of unhealthy fat. when you are a vegetarian, you rid yourself from alot of unhealthy meat fat.
fat causes obesity (usually) -> therefore, when you eliminate fat, you get rid of obesity during a number of years. (of course this doesn't happen automatically, it might take 2+ years to see a big difference)
I my opinion it doesn't matter whether person is vegetarian of not who's trying to help with obesity. The first thing one needs to do is to convince others that it's not healthy to eat junk food and lie on the couch the whole day.
People need to exercise more, eat healthier foods, and over all be more active.
As more people became vegetarian, they started to eat more plants. Pretty soon they will eat out our planet.
Go Green
It takes ten units of food grain to produce one unit of meat!! Eating vegeyarian food will keep the planet green.
The simple answer is Yes, if done correctly.
So then the question becomes, what is the definition of correctly.
By Correctly I mean, a person is abstainstaining from eating the flesh of an animal and adheres to only ingesting unprocessed grains, fruits, and vegetables.
You can still be a vegetarian and be unhealthy or obese. If you're eating garbage you're getting garbage in return. Eating processed unhealthy foods is like trying to fuel a jet engine with gasoline, it just doesn't work very well. Even with the vegan diet, one can find a way to still ingest unhealthy foods. Many companies make them. Too much fat is too much and the same goes for sugar.
Personally I recommend the Paleo diet, but if you have no issues with wheats or grains and have issues with meat, I don't see why switching one for the other would make any difference as long as you have no intolerances.
Junk food is not good for health. Vegetarianism pushes you for self regulation and that regulation inspires you to avoid jumk food. This will help fighting obesity.
Yes you need to cut out the sugar!! I think meat is ok to if you balance it with veggies. If man made it dont eat it! ;-)
It can help!! However, I feel that meat is ok as long as like anything it is eaten in moderation.
