What is the best way you have found to get inspiration for writing?

I use these questions and answers as well as just being open to daily life.

Living life and remembering lessons learned from the past. Some of my best work isn't published in a way anyone would think. My best work is always comments made to others work. Reading what others have written and pulling from life experience is probably the best inspiration I have had.

I usually look over my past hubs, or look over my blogs and see which articles get the most traffic. Then, I begin from there.

What is the best way I have found to get inspiration for writing? I'll look over everything that influences me, be they novels, comics, or movies.

This may sound strange, but I just start typing on any subject, and a story or poem just starts inundating my thoughts, and I keep writing. And then I am on my way---my passion is writing and I could write 24/7----but I do have other people to consider. Good question, Curiad.

Well, when I have a topic in my mind, but not quite sure how to write, I will read other writers' works on the same topic. I find it a efficent way for me to get inspiration for writing.

My creative mind really thrives when subjected to new environments or situations.
If I want to get inspiration for a Military drama story, I might go to a military museum, or a Navy ship on public display.  This stimulates ideas galore in that particular arena.
Did you know that you can sit in on real courtroom proceedings?  Great place to study the tactics used in the courtroom.

My wife and I have a creative game we play to generate characters for our plots,  we will go to a public place like a park or shopping center.  Then we study the character types in front of us and create stories about these characters.  We just springboard off of their characteristics and create a fictional character.

I tend to reminisce about pleasant memories and before you know it I am right there.  I remember what the day looked like, the color of paint on the walls, the smell and sounds around me.  It is almost like traveling back in time.

Most of my inspiration comes from life in general, whether it's my life, or someone else's. It's something that I have been doing since I was 12 years old, and will hopefully remain a part of me forever. smile

Living, experiencing life, both good and bad. Sometimes, even sitting in a mcdonald's and observing gives me ideas.

Reading. Without reading, it's hard to get inspired to write.
