   Would you do chemo for cancer or choose a natural approach?
   
   If you were diagnosed with cancer, would you choose to go with chemo and radiation, Or, would you choose a holistic approach such as diet, nutrition, herbs or other natural remedy. Why would you choose this path?

   Having family members who took both approaches and neither are here with us today. I would have to say whatever the Oncologist recommends to the patient. Mom  had chemo/radiation and it was to much for her body to handle. She passed away. My Uncle went holistic and he past away 7 months after mom and was only 52. When it comes to life a person should do whatever they feel more comfortable with. Whatever the person chooses they should keep a positive outlook and fight each day and hope that the outcome will be bright.

   AEvans, you are right...A positive outlook is a must!
   One problem with doctors recommending chemo/radiation is that it harms the body so the body becomes weaker. They don't learn about nutrition, and diet changes that can help your body stay stronger. Thanks for your answer.

   I've had cancer three years ago.  Grade 111C. (Endometrium with papillary serous and clear cells).  I had a massive operation to remove it all, followed by months of heavy doses of chemo then months of daily radio therapy.  I followed the instructions of a nutritionist and an Ayurveda doctor (for emotional needs), as well as my surgeon, oncologist and radiotherapist.  I did everything that I was told to do, by all the different specialists. ( I wrote a Hub about it), and got better.
   When we get cancer we have to learn how to deal with it and this requires following our wisest selves, as well as finding the right doctors and following their instructions, as well as learning how to accept the 'illness' path. 
   A balanced diet, three times a day, is essential because it gives us the strength to finish the treatments plus we have to restore all our organs and keep them well for when we recover from the treatments. (Very hard to do but not impossible!).

   Chemotherapy is one of the mainstay treatments for cancer. The fear of development of side effects and the cost of getting chemotherapy should not prevent you from seeking treatment if you have cancer. Studies have proved that chemotherapy can extend the number of years of life in people diagnosed with cancer. As of now there are no proved natural remedies for cancer. read more

   Well, I can speak from experience, that I chose an alternative to chemotherapy.  I had an aggressive and invasive cancer, but at the time, I felt in my weakened state that the chemotherapy would kill me.
   
   The decision to do chemotherapy depends on many things - primarily the stage and type of cancer.  It's most effective for blood cancers like leukemia etc, and less effective for solid tumors.  So, with my own experience, I couldn't make a standard recommendation to say 'no' to chemotherapy in all situations.
   
   I was lucky to find a naturopathic doctor to help along the way - his testing was very reassuring.  I would recommend this for anyone with cancer, regardless of their treatment.
