A site map is a list of what is on the site and links to the relevent pages. I use a site map often for large sites with mutiple pages and directions. Just go to a site and click on one and try using it. smile

Actually, a sitemap is something you create and submit to google to allow its webcrawlers to better analyze and "crawl" your site (for better ranking, etc). You make an xml file that contains code of information like how often that site is updated, what pictures and links you have on your site, how many pages you have...Go to google webmaster tools to learn more. This is also where you can verify your sites, including EACH of your hubs. I believe this helps with ranking/rating also. Hope that helps!

Actually both Shawn May Scott and sunbun143 are correct.  There is a user-friendly sitemap that you can create that serves as a quick index to pages, articles and information about the websites specifically so users can jump to specific links.
A sitemap is also a file that sits, usually in your root directory where ever you have your website housed at and is there to give the Google robots information on what content you would like submitting to Google to be considered for indexing.  This sitemap is in xml format and is delivered to Google through a configure file called Robots.txt
Rank, however, depends on many other variables than how many articles or pages are submitted and is more reliant on quality than quantity.

A good sitemap makes it easier for your website visitors to find the web pages they are looking for without going through web pages that can waste their time. I think a sitemap is as important to any website as Contact Us and Home. - Bruce
