If you are passionate about it, you will learn everything about it and if you trust your intuition, you will be guided accordingly....

Cash flow, capital, good PR skills, creativity, passion, trust, hard work and inmost cases a large amount of luck is needed to be the main source for a product.

Remember cash flow is king in business.

Fully utilize all FREE marketing venues. Twitter is a free billboard, social media can be your friend, interact with customers and ask them for ideas of how you can do better or IF they have referrals.

Referrals are the ultimate in free marketing. Ask!

Everyone is not cut out to have their own business. When I lost my job, I created a PR firm--a firm of one. I joined a local business association that offered group insurance to members--only to find out that you needed two W-2 employees. I only had me.
I designed a logo, created the LLC, developed a web site, got business cards printed, sent details of my venture to all the people I had contact with from my last job. Sent a news release out to newspapers throughout the state and waited.
I had one request for a TV interview, which I did. I got a call from a potential client, but despite follow-up calls, nothing developed. A larger firm that I had used in my last job was going refer some of the smaller projects to me. They did not. I had another potential client, wrote them a proposal, identified it as intellectual property so they could not use it without hiring me. They abandoned the idea.
I have received one application for employment. I will have to write that person and tell them I have no open slots.
I know my craft. I can develop a plan, work with media, designed graphics, write news releases, coach people on public speaking and giving testimony.
The one thing I cannot do is attract clients. There is a lot of competition  in my city, but my personality is not one that is comfortable or effective and making cold calls, etc.
So the business still exists. The website with all my endorsements is still posted. It will show up in most search engines, but I have no clients. I blame no one but myself. I did not attend the business meetings, join the Rotary Club, advertise, etc.
So if you are starting a business, remember one of your most important tasks will be to attract clients or customers. The world does not always beat a path to your door.
