What inventions still need to be developed for the benefit of mankind?

If we knew what would benefit mankind, it would already be invented and be beneficial to us.

So are you saying everythingthat could be of benefit has already been invented?

No. I'm saying that we don't know what will cause mankind future benefit otherwise it would already be invented because once people have an idea, it comes reality fast.

We have designed cars that parallel park by themselves. We need to invent a car that drives itself next!

That probably is not too far away. Google is involved in a driverless car. Add GPS to the system and then do some tweaking with traffic lights, warning signs and emergency warnings, we might make it. It will not be cheap.

Mmmm I think a maybe a cap that we could put on so we could understand another person's point of view - like Douglas Adams' Babel fish with languages so when we're struggling to understand how someone else has a totally different point of view - then it will all make sense!

Robotics combined with faster more intelligent computers is already on its way.  One thing that lacks within their intelligence is street smarts and a capacity to learn on their own.  A society where all the menial work is done mechanically will free humanity to concentrate on the activities they love.

Society the way it is now has imprisoned most people accept the wealthy.  By imprisoned I mean having to work at least 8 hours a day five days a week for meager pay, the end of which they are only left with very little or no fun money after paying all the bills.

A robotic workforce and a change in societies monetary structure, done properly of course, will free people to do as they please [while respecting the dignity of others] and move about the world.  So basically two things, invent a money-less society and a mechanical workforce.

None. We have everything needed to survive and prosper; that some people disagree is baffling.

      In response to Sullen91
I disagree. There is to much poverty in this world, to many people surviving day to day. This is a problem that definitely could use major change (or a new invention).

Mankind needs a crystal ball to see how the things we do today effect the world of what shall come. If our forefathers could see what the world has become today, I am sure they would have done some things differently. This goes towards many things, even medicine.

You may just find that happening. Read the Book of Acts in the Bible. IT IS IN THERE.
