What can you say about fracking of natural gas? Do you approve of it?
Everytime there is an increase in gas prices, an alternative - gas fracking which is extracting natural gas from the ground is highlighted. Do you approved and what is your opinion about it?
Hydraulic fracking or just fracking is the technique to produce gas from pressurized fluid to extract natural gas to layers of rocks. Environmentalists deem it risks the air quality and the danger that ground water will be contaminated.
What is your opinion about this?
The process of fracking both for oil and gas is one which has been made controversial. I basically approve of the process as there is no defined connection to issues others have raised wanting to curtail or reduce access to our natural resources. Fracking has been used for years in several areas with no apparent problems.
State and the federal government have been involved with the issues surrounding fracking and I agree if there are valid concerns they need to be addressed. However, the issues being raised has not been able to connect the process with environmental issues in the areas in question. I definately approve of the process.
It seems that more people like the process too. It is less invasive and laws could be implemented to protect other environmental concerns! Thanks for commenting!
The fracking process is safe and has been used for years in vertical wells, which go deeper into the earth. The concern arose when fracking was used on the horizontal wells used in the shale oil and gas fields. In this case the fracking is closer to the surface.
The biggest legitimate concern is where the tremendous amounts of water are going to come from and the disposal of it. Water can come from rivers without any problem. When it comes from underground aquifers there is sometimes concern about the aquifer being drained too quickly. There are laws and regulations in virtually all the oil and gas producing states to address these issues.
Thanks for your input Larry, I read that too, the concern about water and I am glad to know that there are laws now to protect it!

Will the United States ever embrace natural gas?It seems like a cost efficient way to resolve our problem with reliance on foreign oil, but it still hasn't caught on. Why isn't natural gas catching on in the U.S.?

When gas prices were going up, Wingnuts were tripping over each other in a rush to blame the president. Even though he had nothing to do with it.President Obama ordered a release of strategic reserves. Prices have dropped over 50 cents per gallon in Florida. What do we hear now?
