What is the story of Sabbath in judaism ?
There are references to this story in the noble Quran, but I have no idea whether there is any reference to it in other religions.
Hello Mahmo!
The observation of the Sabbath, or more appropriately Shabbat in Hebrew, is an important devotional aspect of Judaism. It is derived from the original 10 Commandments given Moses and the nation of Israel at Mt. Sinai, as recorded in the Biblical Book of Exodus. God commands the Jews to observe the day weekly (Saturday) and to abstain from the normal toils and worldly or temporal concerns that typify the rest of the week. We remember that this commandment is reminiscent of God's decision to rest after the week of Creation, after seeing all that was made was "good," as recorded in Genesis.
While there are undoubtedly more complex and deeper theological interpretations associated with this issue, it is important to recognize that which is simple: Shabbat is a welcome time for many Jews to rest, contemplate and reflect upon their relationship with God, and to make some room for Him in their busy lives.
Hope this helps, and very best wishes!

humanitiesmentor said it very well. I just wanted to add that the "Old Testament" (or, Torah, for Jews) as well as the "New Testament" (or, the Gospels for Christians), both contain references to the Sabbath. Traditionally it begins at sundown on Friday and ends at sundown on Saturday.
Thank you all very much. If you are interested you will find the reference to this story as well in the Quran chapters at the following url.If you also press the Chapter name and verse number written in green you can get the full other verses :Arabic-English

Yes!!!!!!!!!! Hebrew 4-1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left [us] of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard...
