   Is it a good or bad idea to branch out on topics for my hubs?
   
   I specifically talk about antiques, collectables, books, and 3rd party reselling on my youtube and my hubpages. I link them together as much as I can, and there is obviously a lot to talk about... But I am curious on what people think about branching out and diversifying my hubpages. I would like to write about a lot of other topics too, but am worried I will bore my followers.

   HubPages wants you to find a niche and it sounds like you have done that. I don't think it will hurt to write about other things to. I know I would get bored if I only wrote about one topic all the time. Maybe you can find additional niches.

   I believe you can't be hurt by doing hubs on other subjects as well.  Explore some new topics and see how it goes.

   Thanks for asking this pertinent question. First of all, congratulations on doing such a fine job on the niche you're specializing in.
   
   Secondly, I myself write a good deal about selling on ebay, utilizing an anecdotal approach. In a few days, I will dabble more into the "How to..."  angle.
   
   For me, it was a natural progression to write about other topics.  You may find that departing for a short season from the niche you love to write about will only serve to sharpen your focus and natural talent when you eventually return to it.
   
   Your followers will still enjoy your style and "voice" even as you travel down different literary paths. I believe it'll be a good strategy for you, and I wish you the very best.

   As a medical herbalist, the majority of my hubs are about healing with herbs. Yet, I have a strong interest in history, crafts and other subjects, so I write about those as well. I think being a little diversified is an okay thing. As I keep gaining followers, I don't think anyone of them are bored.

   I mainly write stuff about my two favorite things, i.e. hard rock/heavy metal music and "B" movies... but my most-viewed hub is one that has absolutely nothing to do with either topic. Go figure.
   
   I guess the lesson is that there's nothing wrong with having a "niche" but it also never hurts to go outside of your comfort zone once in a while.

   If your niche is already established and you are happy with the traffic then why not venture off the beaten track a little? It sounds as if you are itching to try another topic - to test your writing style primarily - which is a good thing. If your readers are pleased with the niche articles then there's a healthy chance they'll enjoy others too.
   
   It may be wise to keep writing the niche hubs and start the new ones slowly but surely, that way you've got the best of both worlds.
   
   If I were you I'd choose topics that are not too alien to your interests, perhaps something like travel or a review of a favourite book or movie. Would it be sensible to keep this initial try out a wee bit shorter than your niche hubs, so you don't get lost in its creation?
   
   One caveat - writing 'off-topic' may mean you'll have to be patient and wait for a positive response from readers. This could take time, so don't lose confidence in your writing.

   Branch out.  You will reach people who have interests other than those you listed.  It might take you out of your comfort zone but it will take you to a better place.
