What are some options?
If you were in this situation what would you do? Someone asked this to me, and it left me wondering what to say.
A single person, on a small pension, not enough to live on, has no job, but has a hefty savings account. has no retirement funds in terms of a pension. an anxiety disorder and is a live in caregiver for a parent. wants independence, but is a loss of what move to make?
Protect your hefty saving account, at all cost. Don't risk moving into an unstable situation that will put your "cash," your savings account, at risk. You are single, so you have more control of your situation than, if you were married. Since you are a live in caregiver for a parent, it appears that you do not have independence, but you do have more independence that you think.
"Burnout" is a problem for caregivers like yourself and myself (I am a caregiver for my 83 year old mother). There are times that I nearly reach burnout, but I have activities that bring Joy to me, and bring out the best in me, that keep me going.
You can stretch your small pension as long as you are a live in caregiver.
You may need some "home healthcare" assistance to free you up a bit so that you can have a life, travel (go on a cruise), or something.
It isn't easy, but since I am in your situation, and can honestly say, "I know how you feel," I know, for myself, Life could be much worse.
I am your friend, jaydene, I would not mislead you intentionally.
Take care. Merry Christmas. I wish you the best New Year,
Regards,
Dr. Haddox
Depends on how small your pension is. If you can travel to a country that have a much lower standard of living then do so (A small pension in a western country is equal to a comfortable living in a 3rd world country). Since if you stay where you currently are you will surely used up all your savings. No matter how hard to tighten your belt.
As a caregiver you have enough responsibility and pressure, be careful not to add more. Most social systems have some periodic relief available. Draw on it.
Everyone in this world is under some agony and sorrows .Every person in this world has to go through difficulties and fight with them..Fighting with difficulties and coming out of it as a winner is what is called the life of a winner.and actually this is what called actually living a life.
In this case the person even after having a small pension has a hefty savings and with this he can resolve the issues in his life.A small scale business from home would enable him to take care of his family alongwith earning something apart from the pension. This would lead to more earning to correct his life and the living and on the other hand he would no more become a prey to the anxiety disorder.

With increasing age related problems, the concept of retirement age requires to be re look into. Their is no point in working till 60 when there shall be limited scope of enjoying the retired life after that.

What advice would you give to a caregiver if he/she has autism?Well, I heard of caregivers of those with autism, but never ones who have it, including me.I know how very hard and frustrating caregiving can be, but with me having autism it's even tougher on me. I can deal with most transitions even...
