Soft Despotism / Socialism / Communism fosters dependence.

Free market / Capitalism / Democracy / Republic of States fosters Independence.

    Conservatives value independence.

Liberals may value independence, but they fail to comprehend that the policies of the extreme Left could end up destroying OUR ability to rely on ourselves.

The policies of the extreme Right, (Neo Nazis, Skinheads,) are also destructive, but they are not accepted as widely and with as much force as the policies of the extreme Left. The policies of the extreme Right are easily identified as Evil, but not the policies of the extreme Left. The policies of the extreme Left appeal to those who are soft hearted and caring. The Left's influence has become almost cult/religious like.

Living life is a dependent procedure, therefore, unless you specify how you mean 'Dependence and Independence' no clear representation can be presented.

      Computer Dictionary:
      adjective
1 free from outside control; not depending on another's authority: the study is totally independent of central government
      • (of a country) self-governing:
      • not belonging to or supported by a political party: the independent candidate.
      • (of broadcasting, a school, etc.) not supported by public funds.
      • (Independent) historical Congregational.
2 not depending on another for livelihood or subsistence: I wanted to remain independent in old age.
      • (of income or resources) making it unnecessary to earn one's living: a woman of independent means.
3 capable of thinking or acting for oneself: advice for independent travelers.
      • not influenced or affected by others; impartial: a thorough and independent investigation of the case.
4 not connected with another or with each other; separate: the legislature and the judicature are independent of each other | we need two independent witnesses to testify.
      • not depending on something else for strength or effectiveness; freestanding: an independent electric shower.
      • Mathematics (of one of a set of axioms, equations, or quantities) incapable of being expressed in terms of, or derived or deduced from, the others.
      noun
      an independent person or body.
      • an independent political candidate, voter, etc.
      • (Independent) historical a Congregationalist.
      ORIGIN
early 17th century (as an adjective): partly on the pattern of French indépendant.

From August 9, 1976 until I was approached by VA to get off of the streets I was independent of government but dependent on the environment and people's offers of assistance. Was I independent or dependent?

When I was mainly traveling I depended of the plants for food, bridges bridges, abandoned house, barns and the like for shelter. Was that dependent or independent?

So, specify what you are talking about.

Independent as in, not dependent on mother, father or government. Interdependence/networking, being employed, hiring, business dealings and endeavors, is part of independence.

And this definition: "2 not depending on another for livelihood or subsistence: I wanted to remain independent in old age."

Thank you, KLH, for including "2 not depending on another for livelihood or subsistence."

Human-en-mass needs your above presentation as their choice of the two. The "garden in Eden' story of the Bible told Adam, Eve and all who read it "therefore a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh." What that's actually saying is woman, as Adam renamed them, must become independent of those things which began with parents, after leaving them physically and by going against all of their instructions concerning what is what and find out for themselves. that process require "objective observing, testing to determine various results, reasoning with them and sharing the findings with others" as education is defined. Jesus called that process "born again" as tadpoles are for becoming frogs.

Man, on the other hand, will depend the self-reproducing environment for "their livelihood and substance" because they will have overcome their schoolings.

In light of that understanding it is not "Dependence VERSUS Independence" but choose either or and follow the path of your choosing.

Socialism/Communism forces ... and forcing is always Taboo.

The freedom offered in a Democratic Republic inspires and encourages. And love for our loved ones inspires and encourages us toward independence and self-reliance, as we contribute to society via our talents, skills and motivations.

Socialism takes all that away. Socialism breeds dependence and indolence ... and forces us to contribute to the whole rather than to oneself and one's own loved ones.

Repeating: Liberals may value independence, but they fail to comprehend that the policies of the extreme Left could end up destroying OUR ability to rely on ourselves.

This is the true topic of this thread.

I'm explaining why Socialism is bad, (per usual,) What are you saying?

I'm saying I nor anyone else is qualified to judge neither good nor evil because there is no concrete evidence showing they exist, only one's opinion.

... so, in my opinion, good is based on the ability to live and bad is based on the inability to live.

Good and Bad is based, ultimately, on Life and Death.

For instance:  Would you say that eating poison and dying is Good?

Whether one lives impoverished, rich, anything between or environmentally as it is my preference - my destiny for the time being require something different - one is living. Some homeless, and all levels of money dependence have satisfied and dissatisfied people and yet they continue to live until they die.

I have been poisoned and the only thing it did to me was to give me Lucy Bowls for the experience, therefore, I say it is neither, it does what their destiny require of them.

The system of Socialism leads to an early demise for the subjects who are forced to live under it.

    Is that good?

Environmentally living people, after the Born Again metamorphosis, will not demise under any form of governing. John the revelation is still living and will be one of the two per Revelation 10:11 "he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings" through 11:12.

Needless indoctrination takes away motivation, replacing it with indolence.
Free the human spirit, I say. The human spirit is good and should not be shut down.
This shutting down can be done in childhood. This can be done and it should not be done. It is not good and can be avoided.

We need to be conscious of how we shut dow the human spirit. We need to be aware of the ways we can free it.

    Have any recommendations, Nature Boy?

The concept of free anything is an illusion. Every being, animated, plant or matter, is predestined to do everything it does, the only is some are predestined to be bitter and others to be happy but every life-force will fulfill tevery ability of the b being is manifests as. The rest of it is THE illusion necessary to maintain existence's cycle of self-maintainance.

The concept of free anything is an illusion. (Freedom within boundaries, of course.)

Every being, animated, plant or matter, is predestined to do everything it does, but some are predestined (!) to be bitter and others to be happy.

Every life-force will fulfill every ability the being manifests as. (How so?)

The rest of it is THE illusion necessary to maintain existence's cycle of self-maintenance. (Self-maintenance is not the sole end-goal. There is more to life than JUST LIVING.)

        How so this:
"some are predestined (!) to be bitter and others to be happy."
        ?

<Every being, animated, plant or matter, is predestined to do everything it does, but some are predestined (!) to be bitter and others to be happy.)>
There is NO thing that is not predestined since everything we know of happens in a cycle and every life-force contained within existence, including the one called god, continues to evolve through every experience within civilization via reincarnation. That is (How so?)

<(Self-maintenance is not the sole end-goal. There is more to life than JUST LIVING.)>
That is why everything happens in the motion of cycles within one grand cycle, the motion causes the change necessary for existence to sustain itself, otherwise, there would be nothing including minds. It is as simple as that.
