Does it bother you when hubbers leave generic comments on your hubs?
You know, the person who always leaves a comment along the lines of, "This is great information! Thanks for sharing!"
You know that they didn't read the article. You know that they didn't give it a thumbs up or vote it as interesting (or even give it a thumbs down); instead, they are just leaving a comment for the sake of getting you to their hubs or leaving another comment.
Does this bother you or do you feel as though it comes with the HubPages experience?
I've been blessed by having followers and readers who give generously of their time and energy and provide me with well-thought out and helpful feedback.
Now, if and when I were to receive generic feedback, I'd be grateful for that, too. Why? Well, at least the individual took time to hopefully read my work and leave a comment. Secondly, his or her being there counts towards the Hub earnings, I think, and so that helps. Finally, we don't know enough about other people to categorize them as being a certain way by virtue of the feedback they leave. Some of the most wonderful people I've met in my 60 years were far and above their brevity in writing and/or initial comments.
I hope my response to your question helps. Thank you for motivating me to think about something that deserves more thought from me.
Wow! Very good answer! I especially like the 'We don't know enough about other people to categorize them as being a certain way by virtue of the feedback they leave.' - Very thought provoking Hawaii
I am happy to receive any comment. Most people don't even bother to leave anything so taking any amount of time to respond is appreciated.
Another good viewpoint. Thanks for taking the time to comment Geek.
No, generic comments do not bother me. I am grateful they came to the hub and thought enough to comment. I hope they read it, but I can't control what others do - but I do appreciate their time in leaving any comment at all.
That's interesting; it is much different in the world of blogging than it is in the world of HubPages. People go to great lengths to remove spam comments that are just a quick, "Great article! Thanks!" because they add no value to the article.
Shouldn't really matter if their comments are generic, they took time to write one. I appreciate any and all feedback.
But is a generic comment really feedback? Feedback is when someone listens and then responds, not pretends to listen and then respond. So, if they don't read the article, yet respond, it's like they are pretending to listen for their benefit.
It doesn't bother me, but I know why you're asking, that's the reason why I only leave comments when I REALLY want to talk about the topic discussed in the hub. I don't do generic comments, and my most commented hubs are REAL comments from people who are truly interested in the topic I discussed.

Does it bother you that people visit your hubs and don't leave comments? What's more important to you, getting tons of traffic with no comments or getting less traffic with comments? For me, I love to get comments because it lets me know if I have touched someone or given someone a new way of doing...

How important is it to have a comment section on your hubs, or How important is it to respond?I was going through some of the hubs that belong to some of the top paid hubbers ( info found on the success story page) and a lot of those people do not respond to comments. In fact, many of their...

Does it bother you when you put tons of work into a Hub and nobody comments on it?

Hey Hubpages Staff,I've been a member for 15 months now and have been told countless times that "Share with Followers" is NOT to be used by the author of a hub. Then why is it that the FEED is loaded with Hubbers promoting their own work?

I'd like to suggest we get rid of Hubber Score - and perhaps even Hub Scores. They:- are constantly misunderstood;- cause a lot of upset and grief in the forums; and- encourage newbie Hubbers to direct their efforts in entirely wrong directionsFor instance, I've known newbie Hubbers stop...

PROBLEM: Whenever I write a hub on a controversial subject, a number of people create new, fake hub accounts solely for the purpose of posting negative comments and feedback on my hubs and/or threatening me anonymously. These new hubbers have 0 (zero) hubs and no other activity, and they are never...
