Why do people conceal things when they are into preparatory work for some goal?
I have noticed that many people working on a goal do not reveal their goal and preparatory work before they actually achieve that goal. To my common sense, revealing goals and preparatory processes may attract attention and support from well-wishers and may actually make our work simpler. Still, most people do the other way.
These are some of the reasons:
1. To remain focused.
2. To maintain seriousness of purpose.
3. To give more time to themselves
4. In order not to be distracted.
5. In order not to be criticized.
Thanks a lot AK. Your response provoke some thoughts. I was wondering, if one can rank the reasons in order of their significance.
Priority may vary from one individual to the other.
I have to agree with A_K..as usually when you start a project/goal you have a set process or pattern that you desire to follow. Sometimes in sharing this you will get feedback that may throw you off the direction in which you wish to go...by others interference it could be detrimental. When I am working/researching on a project, I prefer to complete , then ask others for their response / comments as to comprehension, usefulness , and worthiness of interest...just my thoughts..
look forward to other opinions on this..
Thanks a lot kj force and AK. I can understand this difficulty. I still have some issues unclear in my mind. Probably, people like you with wider spectrum of knowledge and keen observation may help resolve. Please see the separate answer .....
perhaps..# 1...4..3..2..5..this order sounds feasible to me..what are your thoughts ?
my 8 year old son made an attempt to participate in a chess tournament in school and lost it. He did some self practice at home but did not ask us for help. His father is a reasonably good player of chess and would have been extremely happy to train him. He could have asked us for help but he did not do so. There are many such examples. My issue is when a person is aware of the fact that s/he can do better by revealing why do s/he conceal?
Our 10 year old G-S joined the Chess Club, we had the same scenario.
My personal take is he was trying to claim his independence which he should be credited for perhaps this would be a good time to address the issue for future doings just a thought.
