A diet free of oily foods like chips is a good place to start, to reduce incidences of acne flare-ups. More water in the diet can help flush sebaceous and other glands, contributing to acne. Also a coarse OTC acne scrub, or soap, can cleanse the skin pores & heal the acne that has already developed on the skin. Hope my feedback helps somewhat.
Witch Hazel worked for me. It's in the medicine section by the hydrogen peroxide and rubbing alcohol. Witch Hazel is very mild so I could use it on my sensitive skin. It was also very effective (and cheap!).
I will speak both for myself (age 48!) and my teen daughter. Proactive works (if you are not allergic to the active ingredient - benzoyl peroxide). I/we have also had good results with the Neutrogena oil-free acne wash and the Neutrogena acne stress control toner (I give this 2 thumbs up). All the best!
Using a very gentle cleanser, avoiding granular scrubs that irritate the skin, avoiding eating peanut anything, chocolate and even dairy foods.
I used to use NeoStrata's Toning Solution (not cheap, but an excellent toner compared to other toners out there).
Spot treating breakouts with salicylic acid products or Dermalogica's Sebum Clearing Mask, Benzoyl Peroxide can be effective too.
Keeping your hands off your face, changing your pillowcase every 2 days, and using an oil control lotion on areas of the face prone to being oily like the forehead and nose (I used Mary Kay's Oil Control lotion for years and I still love it!).
Teenage acne is mostly caused by hormones. At this age their bodies are growing and maturing which means their hormones tend to be all over the place, which can result in acne breakouts. There are a lot of things that can help, but if you're looking for natural remedies you could try Apple Cider Vinegar as a toner, coconut oil as a moisturizer, and raw organic honey as a face mask on occasion. All of these things are all natural and they have natural antibacterial qualities that help combat acne.
If it is a teenage girl, you could also try Evening Primrose Oil capsules. Evening Primrose is great for skin and hair and it also helps to balance hormones. If you want to know more about acne feel free to check out some of my hubs. Acne is a topic that I write about quite often. Good luck!

What do you use to treat your adult acne?I never had pimples as a teenager, but now, in my almost 30s, I am breaking out every other day. I tried proactiv, which worked beautifully for about two weeks and then suddenly I developed an allergy or reaction to it. It makes my entire face...
