   Have you noticed that if you change your Ads regularly you receive a sudden surge in traffic?

      Simply edit your E-bay and Amazon  capsules, They should still remain relevant to the subject you are writing about.  Add fresh headings at the same time.

   By coincidence, I changed some of my Amazon and eBay ads last night and experienced the same jump in traffic.  Don't know why but it might be like you said with the fresh content.

      I hadn't noticed this, So that is another regular task when tweaking hubs. Of course the danger is spending more time tweaking hubs than writing new ones.

      ThelmaC, AlexK2009, I think it can be time consuming and one has to wonder if it is just a necessary evil!  It might be best to concentrate on writing fresh hubs though I don't intend to let the Hubs I already have become unfeatured.

      Agreed sallybea.  I have a rough rule that if I have only ten minutes  free in my writing time I will tweak a hub which could mean altering photos or ads or other quick improvements.

   I like this as something to try and do to keep a hub fresh.  I had always focused on adjusting or tweaking the written elements of a hub and adding additional pictures as part of my attempt to freshen up old hubs and ones that could use improvement.  I will give this a go whenever I am fixing up an existing hub.  Hubs that get a few views and do not linger out of featured status are ones that I take the most time tweaking as they have the best chance for success to grow into a worthwhile article with substantial views.

      I agree CZCZCZ - I have done this since I first started on Hubpages - all of my Hubs have been featured and I tweek all of them regularly in an effort to maintain their status.  I think this is a simple way of maintaining traffic flow.  Thank you.

   Google loves fresh content.  I always see a rise in traffic when I edit hubs and change ads in the amazon and ebay capsules.  I have 150 hubs and update regularly.  I am heading to 500,000 views.  Also celebrating 3 years with HP.

      That is a phenomenal amount of traffic vocalcoach, very impressive and I am sure is richly deserved.  I regularly change my content, especially the ads and immediately see a boost in traffic.  I assume some are my own visits though!  Thank you.

   Nope I haven't ever seen that, either here on HP or on any of the other websites I've worked on as an SEO and optimisation consultant. But if this is a case of Google sending more traffic when you change the ads I can guarantee it has nothing to do with freshness. It would have more to do with the new ads having more appeal to your readers and more of them clicking through to amazon/ebay and less of them clicking the back button. This would be a sign to Google that your page is providing visitors with what they want.

      I confess this surprises me as it happens every time I do this and I don't notice that more people click on the ads in the stats,  The red arrows will begin appearing within an hour of the changes.  My hub score also increases!

      Maybe it's just your own views then. Amazon and ebay ad links are both noindex/nofollow anyway, which means that Google will not know if they've changed. G will only know how people respond to your page by how long they stay and what they do next.

      Interesting,  Susana S - It seems I still have a lot to learn.  I still find it puzzling - I would be interested to hear what you experience is if you do the same.  The stats for E-Bay and Amazon remain pretty dismal - one click each a day perhaps!!

      I'd encourage you to start using Google Analytics. It's not perfect but when you get a traffic surge you can more easily pinpoint where the traffic is from. Also keep track of the keywords your pages are ranking for and their positions in the SERPs.
