Like any other country, there is not just one music genre. There are pop singers, Spanish rock bands, rap singers, and so on. Their folklore music includes ranchera or mariachi, banda, norteƱa, corridos, grupera, among others.
A thrilling, harmonic stroll through the main streets of Agua Prieta in the State of Sonora. As I wandered from shop to shop my ears and mind were massaged with majestic mariachi music that came from seemingly every door and window.
Agua Prieta is a border city, across from Douglas, Arizona. It was the home of Los Apson Boys. A for Agua. P for Prieta and S-O-N for Sonora. < (A)Agua (P)Prieta (SON)Sonora>. They were an influential Mexican rock band who spear headed what was called the Northern Invasion when their work spread into the U.S.
You can hear them on YouTube.
There are many genres of music in Mexico. You can enjoy 'Cumbia' which is like Mexican traditional music. One of my favorite songs is "Tu eres mi druga' by Intocable. But Mexico also has their version of pop. You could check out artists like 'La Oreja de Van Gogh' or 'RBD.' They have their own version of rap: Raggaeton. Check out Daddy Yankee or Don Omar. Shakira, Juanes, Pitbull---all excellent artists that just speak a different language.
Not all latin music is mexican. Reggeton is a Puerto Rican genre, a mix of hip hop, dancehall and Caribbean rhythms. La Oreja de Van Gogh is from Spain, Daddy Yankee & Don Omar are Puerto Ricans, Shakira & Juanes are colombians and Pitbull i
I understand your distinctions, but I heard those songs during my friendship with Mexican people. Mexican people listen to that music, so while the artist might originate from other provinces, to me, it still qualifies.
Yes, I get that mexicans like all types of music, as we all do. I was just clarifying because is common in US to think that all things latin are mexican. Those are latin singers, just Intocable is mexican. I thought the question meant music by mexican
The Beatles are from England. Does that make their music less American? I'm not arguing; just giving food for thought.
You are missing the point. Those artists are from other countries. The music they do is not even mexican. If a mexican artist does a global genre or if an artist from other country does a mexican genre album is still mexican music. Just clarifying.
Although your question is a bit "vague", what I can say is if it is a, where-to-go-and-hear-Mexican-music, type question, then I would personally advice an evening in Mexico City at The Plaza de Garibaldi, and become seduced by the sounds of the Mariachi greats. Also, in certain corners or "rincones" of the neighborhoods, you can hear Trios play ballads of songs from yesteryear. Either choice, Mexico is filled with many genres in the style of Mexican music. Choose and enjoy.

Texas executed Humberto Leal yesterday evening. Leal murdered a 16 year old girl after raping and brutalizing her and bashing her head in with a huge chunk of asphalt. He was kind enough to leave a stick with a nail on the end of it sticking out of her vagina. As a Mexican national, Leal was living...
