Hub Position in Google Search
I have a hub which shows up in third place in a Google Search. Last night it dropped to about thirtieth position for the first time in a couple of weeks , stayed there overnight and this morning it has returned to third place.
What are the Google "gods" upto?
That is weird. I would assume that if it dropped that low it would stay that low for a while... Good thing it went back up.
It could be that your browser is giving you personalized search results instead of the true search results. Were you using different browsers or different computers when you searched?
To have unbiased search results on Google, use Firefox with the 'SEO Global For Google Search' installed. This extension was previously called 'Google Global.'
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefo … le-global/
When that is installed, type the URL for Google's encrypted search into the Firefox browser:
https://encrypted.google.com
This will allow you to see Google.com search results without your personal history involved.
Then, type a search query into the Google form and click enter. When you are on a search results page, click the 'SEO Global' icon which looks like a butterfly on the top left of your screen. From there, you can change the location of the search request to: USA, UK, Ireland, Canada or Australia.
Since most visitors to HubPages are from the USA, that is the location you should choose to see your Hub's ranking for a search query.
Hi great question. Your site moved up and down so fast because Google goes through its indexation once a month and during that time positions can shift temporarily. But they almost always come right back to where they were in a couple of days. It's normal so not to worry. My advice to keep your spot is to ensure you keep updating your hub weekly and build some links back to it. Good Luck.

I have read many forums over the last couple of months on how traffic to HubPages has dropped considerably since July. After much investigation I believe to have figured out what has caused this drop (and I don't think it was the algorithm change).I keep statistics on my keyword performance for...

I am looking for some advice. I am trying to improve the quality of my hubs old and new. As part of this, I have been going through them, taking a snippet from the beginning of the hub, pasting it in "..." to Google search. This gives me one way of telling if my hub has been copied....

I thought if a hubpage was listed in Google search it was featured. But apparently that is not the truth. I guess I will keep the hubs up and run my own check on them.
