Why do some people start Following indiscriminately and then Unfollow without any reason?
The moment we write something, we want readers. We love to have "great writing!" comments. 'Friends' could be our potential readers. How to catch friends? "I scratch your back and you scratch mine" is the established culture for getting familiar with others and getting friends in such websites. So we go and follow indiscriminately many with the hope that they may start following us and hopefully read some of our writings and put "Excellent" as a comment!
But they too are like us. Aren't most of us are mostly least interested in reading others, but want others to read ours and sing praises! Mostly it doesn't happen. Ditto for them. So they get disillusioned and start un-following you!
Thanks C.V.Rajan, for answering!
Yes the response must be reciprocal, I agree.
I always make it a point to read other' s hub and leave comments too, whether I am following them or not and whether they are my followers or not.
Thanks for responding.
It could be they believe the person will follow them and they unfollow when that doesn't happen or they may unfollow if they disagree with the other person's views, hubs, etc. Another reason could be a bit of a spring cleaning, coming to the realization that they can't follow hundreds or thousands of people and give them all equal attention and possibly realizing that some of those who followed them may be in the same boat.
Thanks Express10, for answering!
I agree people should Follow as many hubbers, as they can manage. The interests, views should match. Reading other' s work and leaving comments is equally important. It is disappointing if hubbers don't reciprocrate.

I am literally sick and tired of people who follow you, and then, when you follow them back, they promptly unfollow you. Really, people? What do you do when someone unfollows you shortly after you follow them? Do you hunt them down and unfollow them as well? Do you send them mail saying what they...

It seems that some people stop reading comments left at a hub after the hub author has responded to whatever comment they've left. This is only a guess because I've read some people's comments (other than the author's responses) and they've brought up something in addition to what was said in the...

When one has made a comment on someone's hub, one is subsequently notified of all future comments. On hp, one could just say unfollow, but this option doesn't seem to be available on the niche sites.I don't want to do my general settings to 'no notifications,' because I like to follow some. But if...

I no longer get emails from a Hub's comments, but I get the notifications when I log into HubPages. Is there a way to stop following a Hub's comments through the site or do I have to reactivate email notifications and use an Unfollow link from the email? Thanks!

Does it hurt your feelings when someone unfollows you?I must admit I feel disappointment. I feel I have let my followers down when I notice my following number has decreased. Why do you unfollow?

Do you ever "unfollow" your own hub or forum because the comments become tiresome?I've started some forums and written some hubs that I've almost stopped following even though I created them. I enjoy debate and comments, but sometimes they go off in tangents and attacks and there...
