Was Jesus at the Passover?
Matthew 26, Mark 14, and Luke 22 has Jesus at day one of the passover, the day when it was customary to sacrifice the lamb, before he was arrested. According to them he was crucified on day two which is not when the lamb was normally sacrificed. But John 18 & 19 has Jesus arrested, in custody, and crucified BEFORE the passover on the day of preparation, the day before the special sabbath which precedes passover.
Many people assume that Jesus’ Last Supper was a Seder, a ritual meal held in celebration of the Jewish holiday of Passover. And indeed, according to the Gospel of Mark 14:12, Jesus prepared for the Last Supper on the “first day of Unleavened Bread, when they sacrificed the Passover lamb.” If Jesus and his disciples gathered together to eat soon after the Passover lamb was sacrificed, what else could they possibly have eaten if not the Passover meal? And if they ate the Passover sacrifice, they must have held a Seder.
My point is Luke explicitly states that the room for Passover was prepared, Jesus then arrived and shared the meal with them using the lamb sacrificed on the first day. But John explicitly states Jesus was crucified before Passover. One is incorrect.
This is a good question. And the answer is right in the question. Pass Over! This notion is one of the easiest translated concepts. It came from passing over this house with bad things. A marking that was placed on the door to indicate this was a home of God's children.
It is extremely old school. The exact day is like Easter and Christmas. In fact it is not day -- really but like 4 in the morning. But with Christ - all are God's Children. Gentiles and Jews and heathens. So for Christians the Pass Over does not require the mark on the door to the house. So for those who follow Christ. There was no Pass Over. All were passed over.
At that supper and through His Passion the Pass Over became tradition and not a part of worship for those who try to be Christians. It is still their and many hold it dear because of the history. But it became a tradition of man and not of God. So that year of our Lord, there was only a tradition and not a Pass Over.
I am sure it was fun and a good party, but of no consequence to a Christian.
It's about timing I'm concerned Eric. The gospels contradict each other. Three state he shared the Passover meal at the appointed time, the other that he was crucified before passover.
Buddy --- do you open "Christmas" presents on Christmas eve or Christmas morning or evening??? When Christ changed water to wine at a wedding party by all accounts it was the 2nd day of party!! The date, the hour the time is ritual made of man ----
I think he passed it over. Sorry, I couldn't resist. lol.
Great question: something I have considered at length in personal studies. I have found an extremely informative article on this topic; read it here:

All the best.
There was that guy with a cell phone, and he calculated the exact hour and set his alarm. Oooops I am sorry they did not even have clocks back then!!! A calendar that was exact???? Come on -- What day is Christmas?
Excellent question, trying to put scriptures together to get a more complete picture. Let's add these:
"The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world."
"...Christ our passover is sacrificed for us" (I Cor. 5:7),
"The Jews, therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate... that they might be taken away." (John 19:29)
"In the 14th day of the first month at even is the Lord's passover. And on the 15th day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread...In the first day ye shall have a holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work..." (Lev. 23:5-6)
The 14th was Passover as well as a preparation day for the High Sabbath- the 15th day of the month. Christ, our Passover Lamb, was sacrificed just at the same time the priests were sacrificing the unblemished lamb at the Temple.
There is a ton more that could be said; problem with our English Bibles is that they are translated from Greek, and the Greek more than likely from Hebrew, and something is always lost in translation- that's the problem you are facing with your scripture references. I highly recommend getting "The Chronological Gospels," a scholarly work with tons of footnotes with Greek and Hebrew study notes. They are hot off the press and will be shipped in a few weeks, actually.

Many claim that the gospels were written by the disciples of Jesus and the bible is the inerrant word of god - if that is so, then why do the gospels disagree when it comes to the day of the week and the time of day that Jesus died? For the record, one version says it was the day before...
