    The best advice I can think of is to not be afraid of making mistakes, especially in front of fluent speakers. To learn french easily, start learning the basics of the grammar, some basic verbs, nouns, etc... But don't over do it, just get enough down for basic sentences and expressions and above all learn to ask questions. After that its just find someone to practice with, a native speaker. there's no magic secret, its just practice and repetition.

    English has A LOT of words with a French origin. Take a look at written French, and you'll already notice a lot of words that you already know. Start with this comparative approach to ease your way in.

      I knew previously that English had plenty of French loan words but since living in Montreal and studying French, Ive realized that the sheer number of them is staggering. the Norman invasion really did influence English.

    Jump into it. Get a book that has the story in French and English. Rosetta Stone is your best bet, but a free version can be found online. Type it into Google and you should be able to find a few.
