   When do you start decorating for Christmas?  I see a lot of people who have already decorated at
   
   I have seen a lot of Christmas decorations up now before Thanksgiving, which I can understand, being they will have family to come and can enjoy the decorations a little longer, also being it takes a lot of time to put them all up, just to take them back down in a couple of weeks.  Plus, if one is not going to see their family during Christmas, it adds to the festivities.  Having said all of that, we usually put ours up, the first weekend in December.

      Hello nancynurse, thank you for answering.  Personally, I like to celebrate each holiday as its own too.  But I can understand why some go ahead and do have it all up at Thanksgiving for family reasons or just to enjoy the season longer.

   The store I work in has already decorated for Christmas.  Our Thanksgiving is already over in Canada but I am with Nancynurse after Your Thanksgiving is plenty of time for Christmas. Enjoy every occasion and the next question will be . How long do you leave your decorations up? LOL. Have a good day Faith Reaper.
   
   I think what they call "Black Christmas" the day after American Thanksgiving is the biggest shopping day of the year and would be a fitting start to let the games begin.

      Hi suzzycue, thanks for answering.  Yes, back in October, my husband and I went into a restaurant/retail chain store, and it had all three holidays set up, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.  It was overwhelming.  Yes, there is plenty of time.

      I meant to write Black Friday LOL Black Christmas is a movie. Anyway that almost happened in my store where they decorated all three holidays at once but they  honored November 11 Rememberance Day before decorating for Christmas.

   If it is a live tree usually the week of Christmas, but if it is artificial anywhere from Thanksgiving weekend, Saturday or Sunday up until Christmas.  For me Christmas is ruined if the tree is up before Thanksgiving.  If our country keeps going, we are going to be celebrating Christmas year round.  Christmas decorations and promotions were in the stores around here BEFORE Halloween .  I can't stand it.  The greed of these stores is just awful.  When my father grew up his family never put up or decorated the tree until Christmas Eve.  That's cutting it too short, if you ask me! LOL  But, I do like to experience and enjoy a Christmas tree for a while.  BTW, your granddaughters are just precious and beautiful.  Enjoy them this holiday season.

      Hi suzette, Yes, I love to experience each holiday's special tradition on its own.  However, Christmas Eve is cutting it a bit short LOL.  Thank you about my granddaughters.  That photo was taken last Christmas of course!  Blessings

   I never used to decorate before Thanksgiving except for fall themed décor.  But one year, I had company coming and wanted the house to look extra festive.  I enjoyed decorating the house for Christmas early that year, and the guests loved it too.  We also played Christmas music while we were eating Thanksgiving dinner.
   
   This year we are having a quiet dinner at home.  I do not plan on decorating before Thanksgiving.  We will probably decorate the weekend following Thanksgiving. 
   
   I do enjoy getting in to the holiday mood through decorating and music.  It helps me relax and stay focused.  Otherwise, the holidays can be overwhelming at times.  Like this year, I haven't started shopping yet.  I'm usually done by Thanksgiving!

      Hi Crafty, that sounds so lovely for when family and friends who you may need see at Christmas to decorate on Thanksgiving and listening to Christmas music.  It is a joy to decorate to get one in the mood, and I have not started shopping yet either!

   I never decorate before Thanksgiving. I think this was started by the stores because they want the shopping season to begin earlier. So I'm a late one. Usually, by the end of the first week in December is when I start decorating.

      Hi quildon, I believe you are right about the stores and putting out decorations earlier and earlier each year, even in October, I saw Christmas decorations.  That is about when we decorate, the first weekend in December.

   We decorate the weekend after Thanksgiving.  If it is any earlier I think it would lose it's beauty and lesson its affect on the celebrations.  We leave them up until after New Years.
