I'm personally not sure but think this is a very interesting question! smile

By politics, you're not referring to government right? You mean debates/conflicts in our government? I wonder too if societal issues could be addressed without politics and politicians.

I feel like we could live without politics, if we took a different approach to our issues. I certainly don't think we ever will though- people are set in their ways. What do you think?

I think government is for the people and society. So, any sort of societal problem should be entitled to be solved by the government. They are the people's representatives. To form any form of government Politics is essential. So, Politics ruins.

Politicians & so called royals start wars not "real" people, most real people just want to live in peace be happy fall in love & find contentment....That's not good enough for politicians & so called royalty, they need power & control

Sad to say no. Politics is part of governance, and as we all know a society won't be possible without a governing body.

    It is an interesting question.
Even in primitive or tribal societies there is a leader or a chief-- and those who support him (or, less likely, her).
Any group with common interests, tends to form an a mutual alliance.. and  engender others who oppose the prevailing philosophy.
Alas, until we reach perfection, nirvana or heaven-- we seem to be saddled with  the burden  politics.

Hey buddy i think your'l find that governments are not for the people, & neither is society....Governments & society is what is wrong with people today, & i'm talking about the UK & USA specifically here, but all governments are the same....The government does not represent the people in it's country, governments have their own agenda's....The people work for the government, & that's it....We're all slaves to the government, & their taxes....Every one you know is a slave, & everyone who works for a pay check is also a slave....Because what is the alternative to working?, that's right starving to death....There is no alternative because your rightful land was stolen from you before you we're born, & it was stolen by the very government you say is for the people.....Go & ask them for some of your land back, & see what they say.

Not quite. Government and politics are just a very convoluted version of a pack mentality. Humans are a pack species, which means we function (and survive) best when we are with other humans. And, as soon as other humans become involved, politics spring up whether we want them to or not. While some governments might get too big, or too corrupt, to remain beneficial; inevitably we will keep ending back up where we started.

Hi Majlis. It's impossible to live in society without politics. The politics is nothing but an art of guiding people. Without guidance we can't even travel over a known path to a known destination. So you need to modify your question, you may ask, can human society survive or achieve sustainable progress without effective leaders?
For making politics, as others too have opined, effective, one should ensure the following:
    (1)    A political system should be exactly what the ethos of respective regions demand.
    (2)    The political parties should have clear vision and a firm commitment for their promises to fulfill.
    (3)    The leaders should deem themselves as servant of the people.
    (4)    The relationship between leaders and followers must base on mutual love and co-operation.
    (5)    Values like, equality of humanity, justice to all and avoidance of discriminatory practices, must form bases for both parties and leaders.
    (6)    Political parties and leaders should feel themselves accountable in every sense.
If any society forms an organic relation with politics based on such principles, politics will surely appear a blessing and leaders as the savior.
